Doesn’t Have A Snowball Chance In Hell

Vermont Calls to Take Money out of Politics

MONTPELIER - The Vermont Legislature became the first to pass a resolution calling for a Constitutional Convention to change the country's campaign finance laws.

The effort is focused around overturning Citizen's United, a 2010 decision that equated money with free speech, allowing for an influx of money into political campaigns.

A more recent decision, known as the McCutcheon decision, struck down overall limits of campaign contributions.
The Republicans will never let this happen. It was their billionaire supporters who fought to overturn the limitations on corporate or individual campaign contributions. It will take 34 states voting in favor of a Constitutional Convention and if it does happen everything is on the table, marriage equality, non-discrimination laws, abortion laws, and a whole slew of conservative agenda, not just voter rights. The cure might be worse than the bite.
