Open And Affirming… Not

Many colleges and universities say they are open and affirming but many universities and colleges are open and affirming for the students but not for their faculty and Notre Dame is one such school, Cincinnati.com reports that,
The university promotes a message of not just tolerance, but acceptance, for openly gay students in the two-minute video released last week and narrated by school Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick.

It features athletes from various sports repeating this message: If you can play, you can play. You're welcome at Notre Dame.
But when it comes to their staff and faculty it is an entirely different story,
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati is not a Fortune 500 company, but it has to attract talent and take care of its staff like any other organization. The archdiocese's new contract for its teachers – which forbids public support of gays in any manner – puts many of its employees who have gay friends or relatives in a horrible position.

One archdiocesan teacher, Molly Shumate, told The Enquirer she's ending her Roman Catholic teaching career because signing the contract would betray her gay son. Other employees will leave as well.
Remember, Notre Dame is not a church, it is run by a Catholic organization that accepts state and federal funding, and therefore, they cannot discriminate against sexual orientation and gender identity.

But if you are a professor keep your mouth shut.
