Oh Wow! Bravo!

This is excellent, in Fresno City the when a councilman started ragging on transgender people and drag queens, the councilmen walked out.

Councilman starts talking drag queens and rest of Fresno council walks out. Here’s why

The Fresno City Council meeting on Thursday was paused momentarily for lack of quorum after councilmembers left the dais in protest of City Councilmember Garry Bredefeld’s repeated attacks against transgender people and drag queens.

Bredefeld spoke in response to a number of residents who criticized him during public comment for his social media posts and rhetoric against the transgender community.

As he spoke, Councilmembers Miguel Arias, Luis Chavez, Nelson Esparza and Tyler Maxwell quietly walked away from the dais and out of the council chambers.

In the middle of Bredefeld’s remarks, City Clerk Todd Sterner interrupted him, noting there was a lack of quorum. While the meeting was shortly put on hold, Bredefeld continued speaking, and Councilmembers Annalisa Perea and Mike Karbassi also left the dais.

Bredefeld’s words were met with shouting from the audience members.

YES!

They will not listen to the anti-trans ranting, great move!

Councilmember Bredefeld and the others that stay will now have to defend themselves for using the anti-trans venom. Of course Mr. Bredefeld doesn’t see it that way, he sees himself as a champion protecting the “children” from “grooming.”

Bredefeld spoke about his opposition to children being exposed to drag performances, which he claimed confuses children about gender. But, he said, he never promoted hatred or violence.

He doesn’t see his vitriol attacks as causing harm, and those armed protesters call him a hero.

The polls show a wide support for us! A UMass at Amherst poll found,

“However,” he adds, “as Republican-led state legislatures and governors pass legislation aimed at restricting the discussion of the diversity in sexual orientation among human beings in their public schools, it is important to note that this position is out of step with public opinion as a majority of the American public believe that it is appropriate for children to read books that feature gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender people and to have conversations about differences in sexual orientation.”

Once again the Republicans only consider their views as being acceptable.

In Gallop polls they asked over the years, if being LG is morally acceptable in 2001 only 40% said yes and 53% said no but in 2022 when the same question was asked 71% said yes while 25% said no!

More telling is the numbers of people who think we are born being lesbian or gay. In 1977 only 13% thought we are and 56% thought it is a choice but sadly in 2019 that number hasn’t changed that much only 49% said it is something we are born with while 32% said outside factors are the causes in being LG.

But when it comes to our rights the change is dramatic!

In 1977 56% said lesbian and gays rights should be protected while 33% said no but 2019 93% said yes while 5% said no.

In a post election poll by the HRC they found…

Across the country, election deniers and right-wing extremists lost winnable elections because they advocated views that are out-of-touch with average voters, particularly the huge number of Equality Voters who made the critical difference up and down the ballot. Equality Voters are a group of voters modeled to support LGBTQ+ equality, numbering 62 million nationwide. They represented 39 percent of the 2022 electorate—a number that reflects the growing political strength of this voting bloc—and tend to be younger and more racially diverse than the electorate as a whole.

We must educate!

We have to get out there and convince the voters that this is something we are born with and not a choice.

But the republicans still won and now control the House. The members of the House are supplied by voters in their districts. So, what does that tell us about the voters in the districts in each state across the country? A few fallen trumps men and women only means so much. Let's hope that they can be blocked and something good will come out of the next 2 years. Just remember folks that today "First they came for the Transgender Peoples-" We have a war going on and that "respect for marriage act" is not going to help us. That is the second point l want to make, if anyone still believes in the pieces of paper that the government gives out saying you are free then you are a fool. How many times has that paper been given out to folks and how many times have they been screwed.
