A panel of three federal judges has struck down Alabama's latest map of congressional election districts for not following a court order to comply with the landmark Voting Rights Act.

In an order released Tuesday, the judges said they are "deeply troubled that the State enacted a map that the State readily admits does not provide the remedy we said federal law requires."

"We are not aware of any other case in which a state legislature — faced with a federal court order declaring that its electoral plan unlawfully dilutes minority votes and requiring a plan that provides an additional opportunity district — responded with a plan that the state concedes does not provide that district," said U.S. Circuit Judge Stanley Marcus, U.S. District Judge Anna Manasco and U.S. District Judge Terry Moorer. "The law requires the creation of an additional district that affords Black Alabamians, like everyone else, a fair and reasonable opportunity to elect candidates of their choice. The 2023 Plan plainly fails to do so."
So they laid down the law!
For the 2024 elections, the judges have assigned court-appointed experts to draw three potential maps that each include two districts where Black voters have a realistic opportunity of electing their preferred candidate. Those redistricting proposals are due to the court by Sept. 25.

All sides in this case will be able to challenge the proposals produced by the court's "special master" and cartographer, the judges have said. A hearing on any objections is tentatively set for Oct. 3.
But the Republicans want their Constitutional rights to be bigots!!!!
And the state of Alabama has previously signaled in court filings it would appeal this kind of ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court, where a majority of justices upheld the panel's order in June.
The new Jim Crow 2.0 laws!

Gerrymandering are the new Jim Crow laws, drawing district maps that are mainly White voters with a touch of Black voters making the voting districts predominately White. Some time the district run down one side of the street so they can pick up the White suburbs to offset the Black voters.

They ban convicted felons from voting because Black people make up 40% of the prison population.

Also by banning books on Black history and banning Black organizations in schools all are designed to destroy Black culture and their heritage.

The Republicans look the other way when groups like the Proud Boys and neo-Nazi organizations march. They don’t condemn them but raise cane when Black organizations do the same thing. How many Republicans spoke out against the massacre at the Dollar General store in Florida?

The PBS NewsHour reported,
Ron DeSantis scoffed when the NAACP issued a travel advisory this spring warning Black people to use “extreme care” if traveling to Florida.

The leading civil rights group argued that the state’s loose gun laws and the Republican governor’s “anti-woke” campaign to deny the existence of systemic racism created a culture of “open hostility towards African Americans and people of color.”

Just three months later, DeSantis is leading his state through the aftermath of a racist attack that left three African Americans dead. Black leaders in Florida — and across the nation — say they’re outraged by his actions and rhetoric ahead of the shooting.

“Gov. DeSantis has created and pushed a narrative of division and hate that is anti-Black,” said Rev. Jeffrey Rumlin, pastor of The Dayspring Church in Jacksonville, where three Black people were gunned down at a Dollar General store over the weekend by a white man with a swastika emblazoned on his assault rifle.
We are going backwards in this country to the 1950s when Blacks and gays knew their place and the country was ruled by old White men.
