Dressed to the nines in cocktail dresses and women’s brunch finery, accented by jewelry and artfully applied makeup, six drag queens will entertain at the First Congregational Church’s Drag Queen Bingo night. For Michael Morgan, known as Morgana DeLuxe when performing, this means “a little black dress and a strand of pearls.”
“I have a pair of aurora borealis stone earrings," Morgana DeLuxe said. "They catch with the light, and I think they sparkle a little better.”
Drag Queen Bingo will take place Saturday, Jan. 28 at the First Congregational Church’s Hubley Hall, 26 Meeting House Lane, Madison from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $20.
The evening will raise money for the church’s annual youth mission trip to Appalachia for home repair and rehabilitation, scheduled for June 14 – July 1.
Last year, 25 youths participated, along with 10 adults. The trip, said Rev. Sarah Vetter, typically costs between $20,000 and $25,000.
The performers will donate their time and any gratuities to the mission trip.
The evening will include bingo, interspersed by lip sync performances by the drag queens.
Meanwhile just down the street in Guilford an evangelical church is creating unrest over it the show. From the church’s Facebook page…
Sadly, we are seeing more and more Christians affirming immoral lifestyle choices in the name of being more inclusive, affirming, and loving — even in the spirit of the Love of Christ Himself!
Now this is Bingo. Not Drag Story Time for children. It will be not at a bar but at a church!
Shaneeda Razor, who prefers to be known only by her stage name, said “it’s going to be tasteful dress because there are going to be youths there.”
“The clothing that everybody is going to be wearing would most likely be something that someone would wear to brunch or to a nice dinner party,” she said. “It’s not going to be like fishnet stockings and feather boas.”

Morgana DeLuxe has been doing drag since 1991 and participates in about two or three dozen benefit shows a year.

Morgana DeLuxe and the five other performers are members of the Imperial Sovereign Court of All Connecticut.
“The Court is a nonprofit group that raises funds for other nonprofits,” said Morgana DeLuxe. “Our chapter has been around since 1999, the international court system was actually founded in 1965.”
I have been to a number of Imperial Sovereign Court of All Connecticut functions fundraiser and including their coronation. I am friends with Morgana DeLuxe and have know her for over ten years and I worry about them tomorrow, will there be armed protesters? Will there be violence?
Why do they hate us so? What have we done to them? Why can't they just mind their own flock?
The evangelicals are always screaming "Religious Freedom" but it seems that they can deny other people their "Religious Freedom" if it doesn't agree with their religious beliefs.

FABULOUS update on Drag Queen Bingo. The line was around the building and they had to turn people away! We got in! But we are sitting at the stage.
Oh yeah the “protesters” were 5 folks with one sign. Love wins.
