Saturday 9: Here Comes Peter Cottontail

Sam's Saturday 9: Here Comes Peter Cottontail (from the archives)
On Saturdays I take a break from the heavy stuff and have some fun…

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) Which do you prefer: colored hard-boiled eggs, chocolate marshmallow eggs, or plastic eggs with coins inside?
Well as a diabetic chocolate marshmallow eggs so it is between colored hard-boiled eggs and plastic eggs with coins inside, well I will go with plastic eggs with coins inside if the coins are Krugerrands.

2) What's your favorite color of Peeps (yellow, purple, or pink)?
Well since you say color and not the Peeps I will pick traditional yellow.

3) All this talk of sweets is making Sam hungry. What's for lunch?
Well I am writing this Friday morning and I am making ham and pickle for lunch today and tomorrow.

4) This song was introduced by country singer Gene Autry and it's still a favorite. Please share some of the lyrics. (And you're on your own; Sam didn't include a link to the song this week.)
Word meanings morph over time and I imagine these lyrics might give some people grief…
Bringin’ every girl and boy Baskets full of Easter joy,
Things to make your Easter bright and gay.

5) Gene Autry was so popular that a town in Oklahoma named itself for him. Have you ever been to Oklahoma?
Nope. Only as far south as Nebraska.

6) He and his horse Champion also had a TV show. Can you name another famous horse?
I’m probably dating myself… Seabiscuit.

7) Gene Autry also recorded "Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer," and it was, of course, wildly popular, too. Who is your favorite recording artist?
Burl Ives.

8) In 1950, the year Autry recorded this song, Diner's Club issued the first credit card. Think of the last thing you purchased. Did you use cash, a credit card, a debit card, an e-wallet service (Visa Checkout, Paypal, Google Pay, Apple Pay ...) or a check?
It was online so it was by credit card.

9) Easter is recognized as the start of the spring season. What are you looking forward to this spring?
Opening up my cottage, I am just waiting for the Cape not to be a "Red Zone."

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

P.S. Before I retired one of the guys at work owned a franchised chocolate company and he had a jar of chocolates on his desk of out of date chocolates from the store and after Easter he would have all the chocolate that didn't sell.... his office was one popular office.

  4. When I looked up the lyrics to do a parody, I saw the "gay" line. I laughed hard & thought - some people would have a sh!+ fit. HaHa. Great minds, my lady, think alike...

  6. I would love to own a chocolate store, even if I can't eat chocolate right now. I had to look up Krugerrands, too.

  7. Burl Ives is a great choice. I love his music and his playing, too.
Peeps are a scream when you stick a little toothpick in one of their "hands" and put them on a plate in the micro wave. lol It is really cute when you do this with two of them!
