The bill, written by Senator Charles Perry, would add "administering or supplying, or consenting to or assisting in the administering or supplying of" gender reassignment surgery or puberty blockers for the purpose of gender transitioning or gender reassignment to the list of punishable offenses under the state's child protection laws. Parents, as well as medical providers, who provide gender-affirming care to transgender children could lose custody and face criminal charges.

Medical professionals and the LGBTQ+ community, including transgender advocates, argue that if transgender children don't receive gender-affirming health care, they are at higher risk for mental health conditions and even suicide. Studies show that access to puberty blockers can decrease the risk of suicide in transgender teens, who are already at higher risk for suicide than their cisgender peers.

How sick is this?

This is the worst bill proposed by the Republicans, can they get anymore sinister?

“In our experience, affirmation and acceptance from parents, guardians, physicians, and all other important adults in a child’s life is extremely beneficial to the child’s health outcomes and happiness. These benefits are also supported overwhelmingly by the medical literature and highly respected pediatric organizations including the Texas Pediatric Society, American Academy of Pediatrics, and Pediatric Endocrine Society.”

Meanwhile at the opposite end of the spectrum, here in Connecticut the Department of Children and Families…

The Republicans are on a power trip and they don’t care who they hurt or kill, they fly in the face of proven medical care and instead rely on the hate of the evangelical Christians.

I wouldn’t be surprise if sometime in the near future the Republicans will attack lesbian and gay parents on adoption or if a child from a previous marriage is now living with same-sex parents and label them also as child abuse.
