Through out history the victors get to rewrite history… Trump is no exception!
Do you remember he removed us, "transgender" and "queer" from the Stonewall National Monument website? His Executive Order had the National Park Service (NPS) edit the monument’s homepage to replace the acronym LGBTQ+ with LGB. References to transgender activists like Marsha P. Johnson were removed from the primary text! While Executive Order 14253 (March 27, 2025): "Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History had the Smithsonian purged of all "divisive, race-centered ideology" from museums. He also ordered the Secretary of the Interior to reinstate Confederate monuments and statues on federal property that were removed since 2020, labeling their removal as "revisionist history."
And now he strikes again in rewriting history, this time it is the January 6th coup attempt.
More actions are expected, including possible payments to compensate Jan. 6 defendants, as the White House launches a webpage dedicated to Trump's claims.NBC NewsBy Ryan J. Dozens of other supporters involved in efforts to overturn the election results have been pre-emptively pardoned.A former Jan. 6 prosecutor said Trump’s actions — and the growing embrace of them by a broader swath of Americans — were “maddening.”“I spoke with dozens and dozens of people who were there that day and who are still dealing with the trauma,” said the prosecutor, who was not authorized to speak publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. “It makes you feel crazy because you know what happened that day, but there is the chief executive nodding positively along to this narrative that they are trying to build.”At least 140 law enforcement officers were injured and millions of dollars in damage was done to the Capitol in 2021 as thousands of pro-Trump rioters shattered windows and broke through the doors in a failed effort to stop the counting of electoral votes to certify Joe Biden’s win.
And Trump wants to make heroes out of them! They attempted to stage a coup and Trump thinks of them as heroes! And this is the bull that Trump wants to whitewash history;
On the anniversary Tuesday, as pro-Trump demonstrators gathered near the Capitol, the White House launched a page on its official website dedicated to Trump’s narrative, claiming that the protesters were peaceful in 2021 and that it was the police response that escalated tensions. A timeline reads: “Stolen Election Certified,” and it restates claims that former Vice President Mike Pence was trying to sabotage Trump when he refused to stop the certification of electoral votes.
But, but… what really gets me is;
“The media’s continued obsession with January 6 is one of the many reasons trust in the press is at historic lows — they aren’t covering issues that the American people actually care about,” she said in a statement. “President Trump was resoundingly reelected to enact an agenda based on securing the border, driving down crime, and restarting our economy — the president is delivering.”A federally funded compensation fund for Jan. 6 rioters is under discussion, Trump has said, “because a lot of the people in government really like that group of people.”His administration has already paid nearly $5 million to the family of Ashli Babbitt, who was carrying a knife and was killed trying to jump through a broken window to the House Speaker’s Lobby.
Can you imagine the gall in this… rewarding people in trying to overthrow the government!
The Democrats are fighting back at this injustice!

Another piece of legislation would prohibit the use of federal tax money to pay for civil legal settlements against Jan. 6 defendants who were convicted of assaulting police.The latter of the two bills is titled the "No Settlements for 5 January 6 Law Enforcement Assaulters Act." It is sponsored by Sen. Alex Padilla, a California Democrat who serves as vice-chair of the Senate Rules Committee, which has oversight of the Capitol grounds and the U.S. Capitol Police. The legislation is also sponsored by Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, a Rhode Island Democrat who serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
And this is how the Republicans are framing the uprising attempt,
Mark McCloskey, an attorney whose social media page says he is "championing the cause of J6 compensation," posted on his X feed in August: "To all the J6 political prisoners out there- I'm doing everything I can to [expedite] the establishment of a claims resolution procedure so we can get you back on your feet and get you some real justice."
This fits right in with Trump’s rewriting of history!
However, Trump pardoned them so their convictions still stands. A pardon does not erase the convictions!
Call to Action Do not let this whitewashing go unchallenged. Contact your representatives in Congress and tell them that rioters should not be rewarded for lawlessness. You can find your representative’s contact information on Ballotpedia. Tell them to stop this nonsense and hold the line on the truth. History belongs to those who have the courage to remember it accurately.
