Were shot and two of them killed!
I was watching Face the Nation for a bit, and Margaret Brennan was questioning a Republican senator about the shooting. The senator replied that it was self-defense, claiming the victim had a gun pointed at ICE agents. Ms. Brennan responded that videos show he did not. The senator then said, “I haven’t seen any of the videos; I’m only going by what Attorney General Pam Bondi said.”
What? So he’s declaring it self-defense without seeing any evidence?
The Department of Justice says it has arrested over 3,000 people for various crimes and claims it’s getting hardened criminals off the streets. But court records show otherwise: most of these cases have been in administrative courts, not criminal courts. And in the vast majority of cases, charges were never filed.
There are reports that ICE had already taken the gun from Pretti before he was shot and killed! The Washington Post wrote,
Federal agents who were wrestling a man to the ground in Minneapolis early Saturday secured a handgun he was carrying moments before shooting him multiple times, according to a Washington Post analysis of videos that captured the incident from several angles.
But then comes the bombshell.
The bombshell where Bondi admits this is all about extorting Minnesota into releasing its voter lists.
WHAT?
The Hillby Tara Suter01/25/26Attorney General Pam Bondi on Saturday outlined terms to “restore the rule of law” in Minnesota, just hours after a second person was fatally shot by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis.“You and your office must restore the rule of law, support ICE officers, and bring an end to the chaos in Minnesota,” Bondi wrote in a letter to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) obtained by multiple outlets. “Fortunately, there are common sense solutions to these problems that I hope we can accomplish together.”In the letter, Bondi pressed Walz to hand over information about the state’s welfare programs amid mounting scrutiny over a massive fraud scandal, get rid of immigration sanctuary policies and let the Department of Justice see voter rolls “to confirm that Minnesota’s voter registration practices comply with federal law.” [My emphasis]“I am confident that these simple steps will help bring back law and order to Minnesota and improve the lives of Americans,” Bondi said in the letter.
Say what?
There are so many things wrong with this—like attempting to extort a state for records the federal government is not legally entitled to.
And think about it: an Attorney General who believes this is normal behavior.
Think about the fact that the Trump administration is using the full weight of the federal government to pressure a state into handing over information that the U.S. Constitution clearly reserves as a state responsibility.
And what are they going to do with that information? Will it be handed over to MAGA operatives or others, like they supposedly did with Social Security information?
