SATURDAY 9: HAPPY HOLIDAYS

SATURDAY 9: HAPPY HOLIDAYS
On Saturdays I take a break from the heavy stuff and have some fun…

From the archives

1. As you can see, when Sam Winters was a little girl, she loved giving her annual wish list to Santa. If you could ask Santa for anything at all, right now, what would it be?
My two front teeth is all I want for Christmas!
But seriously, as you get older “Wants” don’t matter any more, but being with family does.
So all I want for Christmas is to be surrounded by family.

2. Are you currently on the Naughty or Nice list? How did you get there?
Well it depends on whose list we are talking about!

On Santa’s list I am nice…
On the government list I’m a terrorist (I'm not kidding, so if anyone wants a little extra cash this holiday season, turn me in and we can split the reward!).

3. Are you traveling this Christmas? If so, are you going by car, plane or train?
On Christmas Day I will be with friends and the weekend I will be with family.

4. Did you ship any gifts to friends and family this year? If yes, which one traveled the farthest?
The adults do not exchange gifts, we have a Yankee Swap.

5. Did you buy yourself a gift this year?
I cut way back on what I’m buy this year… everything is so expensive!
One thing that I found with Amazon is you can look at back orders and see what you paid;
2024: Royal Dansk Danish Cookies Tin, butter, 24 Ounce = $9.36
2025: Royal Dansk Danish Cookies Tin, butter, 24 Ounce = $9.78

6. Which do you prefer: candy canes or gingerbread?
Do Gingerbread cookies count? The look farm store has homemade cookies. Their gingerbread and raisin cookies are very good, especially with some of their fresh apple cider.

7. Can you see any holiday decorations from where you're sitting now?
Nope.

8. What's your favorite winter beverage?
Hot chocolate milk with the above cookies.

9. Share a memory from last Christmas.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow… I got snowed in for Christmas. They are no longer are massive storms but just enough for us seniors to panic.

  2. Family is everything. I will not be seeing mine this year, or maybe ever, again. They disowned me. Their loss. But I will miss having folks around for the holiday. Ours will be a quiet one.

  3. I like that the adults have a Yankee swap. My family should do that.

  4. Being above ground is all I want. Driving a whole 2 blocks to our neighbors house. From Chicago to Florida. Gingerbread canes take too long. Like all year any junk food I even like fruit cake! Merry Christmas to all.

A Terrorist! Well I am in love with the terrorist you and hope I can be one too. Happy Holidays. Tim and I are staying home for Christmas. We just don't have the energy to bother with all the hussel and bussel, with young kids screaming and playing, and being nice to people we don't really care for or have much in common with. Since we do not drive we would be at the mercy of others to bring us and then take us home on their time. We understand the need for others but do not process such a thing.

  6. I have never had gingerbread and raisins. It must be in a loaf. Not sure how it would be in cookies unless I wanted big eyes!
