Editorial: They Made Me Do It!

[Editorial]

We have all seen them, they bring them to hearings, they bring them to press conferences. They parade them around. You know the one… “I made a horrible mistake!”

That’s right… you. Not everyone! You know what has a higher level of regrets? Gallbladder surgery has a level of regrets around 5–15%! Plastic surgery, also around 5–15% of people have regrets. Are they trying to ban them? You want to ban gender-affirming surgeries that some data shows have less than 5% … why? Because we have to go to counseling! That’s why.

And no one forced you into transitioning, you had to get counseling… did you lie to them? I remember when I decided to transition I had to go to therapy and get a letter from them. And you still do… so did someone force you into signing the paperwork for the surgery?

I have seen so many people transition over the course of 25 years out in the community. I have seen people like me take their time to transition and others who want surgery on demand! I have known a trans person who when she were refused a letter she flew to Thailand. That is their choice, if they rush through the process yeah they are going to make mistakes… but that is their fault, not ours.

For minors, there is no treatment given to them that cannot be reversed… nothing!

I have known several who detransitioned… “I made a mistake.” and moved on with their life.

  1. I met my first trans person at my job in the mid 1970's. He even spoke at the local college in my Human Sexuality class and that would have been around 1978. My neighbor has too. I am sure they gave it a lot thought for many years.
