Today is the hearing for the bill to add gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation along with a right to have an abortion to the state’s Constitution! SJ-35! And it is going to be a long, long day! It is my prediction that this bill will go until way in the evening.

Abortion/Transgender Amendment is Back

S.J.35, a Resolution Proposing a State Constitutional Amendment for Late-Term Abortion and Gender Transitions (Even For Minors), will have a public hearing in the Government Administration and Elections (GAE) Committee this Friday, February 7th at 12:00 pm.

This proposed amendment is as radical as it gets. It enshrines post-viability abortion, up to the moment before birth, in our state constitution. It creates a right to gender transitions, even for minors. It could mean the end of women-only sports. It threatens the religious liberty of Christian schools and hospitals.We need every pro-lifer in Connecticut to testify against S.J. 35 in the GAE Committee on Friday, either in person or via Zoom. If you cannot testify verbally, please submit written testimony against S.J. 35. We also need you to email your own state senator and state representative and ask them to oppose S.J. 35.

The Government Administration and Elections Committee will hold the public hearing on Friday, February 7th at 12:00 P.M. in Room 2B of the Legislative Office Building and via Zoom.This legislation would redefine “sex” in the Constitution of Connecticut to include pregnancy termination (abortion) and “gender identity and expression.”

I like to point out that this is a Christian organization… but nowhere in the bill does it say anything about “Late-Term Abortion” for a Christian organization they sure don’t mind lying. Connecticut General Statutes § 19a-602 states: "No abortion may be performed upon a patient after viability of the fetus except when necessary to preserve the life or health of the patient"

So they lie to rally their troops against us!

Then they take aim at us,

SJ 35 amends the state constitution to redefine discrimination on the basis of “sex” by expanding its definition beyond male and female, and including abortion. The new definition states: “sex includes, but is not limited to, discrimination, in intent or effect, based on pregnancy, including preventing, initiating, continuing or terminating a pregnancy; sexual orientation; gender identity and expression; and related health care.”

Another one of their falsehood (They seem to think it is okay to ignore the First Commandment: Speaking falsely in any matter, lying, equivocating, and any way devising and designing to deceive our neighbor.), the lie is: “expanding its definition beyond male and female.” The language used in the bill does not expand the definition of “sex” as ot is in the the gender inclusive non discrimination law.

The law PA 11-55:

(21) "Gender identity or expression" means a person's gender-related identity, appearance or behavior, whether or not that gender-related identity, appearance or behavior is different from that traditionally associated with the person's physiology or assigned sex at birth, which gender-related identity can be shown by providing evidence including, but not limited to, medical history, care or treatment of the gender-related identity, consistent and uniform assertion of the gender-related identity or any other evidence that the gender-related identity is sincerely held, part of a person's core identity or not being asserted for an improper purpose.

The proposed bill SJ-35:

23 ..."Shall the Constitution of the

24 State be amended to amend the equal protection clause to provide that

25 discrimination on the basis of sex includes discrimination based on

26 pregnancy, including preventing, initiating, continuing or terminating

27 a pregnancy, sexual orientation and gender identity and expression?"

I have been involved in trying to pass pro-LGBTQ+ and blocking anti-LGBTQ+ legislation since 2007! The only other time have I seen this many testimonies submitted was only for our bill in 2009 and 2011 when the marriage bill and our bill were before the legislature.

Over 1,679 written testimonies with 1,256 in support!

In a video recorded Sunday and posted to Facebook by a performer, Beth Bourne — who is also the Moms for Liberty Yolo County chair — is visibly upset and shouting her disapproval of drag queens filming a commercial a Waikiki hotel. Bourne tells hotel staff she’ll leave if they refund her immediately.

The video prompted a response from Hawaii Governor Josh Green, who told HawaiiNewsNow he was, “proud of the performers from Hawai’i’s LGBTQIA community who maintained their dignity and integrity in the face of such a hostile attack.”

Bourne later shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) Tuesday morning of her interaction with Honolulu police officers and called out Green for defending the drag performers, writing, "@GovJoshGreenMD (Democrat) came to the defense of the drag queens and not to parents like me who find drag inappropriate for children and offensive to women."
