We were erased out of the Stonewall Uprising by the gays, and had to fight to be recognized. And now we are being erased out of history by the government!
The Hillby Ashleigh FieldsFebruary 13, 2025The National Park Service is the latest agency to remove references to the transgender community in line with President Trump’s executive order mandating that the country only recognize two genders. The agency’s web page dedicated to the Stonewall National Monument in New York deleted “transgender” and “queer” from the LGBTQ+ acronym previously displayed on the site. Instead it now reads “LGB” for lesbian, gay and bisexual, a move first reported Thursday by The New York Times.“Before the 1960s, almost everything about living openly as a lesbian, gay, bisexual (LGB) person was illegal,” reads a small excerpt at the top of the website. “The Stonewall Uprising on June 28, 1969 is a milestone in the quest for LGB civil rights and provided momentum for a movement.”
So now we are erased again!
How petty is that!
The Stamford Advocate writes that,
“This is just cruel and petty,” New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, posted on X. “Transgender people play a critical role in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights — and New York will never allow their contributions to be erased.”
It went on to write…
Representatives of the present-day Stonewall Inn, which is part of the national monument, and The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative, a nonprofit organization associated with the historic bar, expressed anger and outrage over the changes.“This blatant act of erasure not only distorts the truth of our history, but it also dishonors the immense contributions of transgender individuals — especially transgender women of color — who were at the forefront of the Stonewall Riots and the broader fight for LGBTQ+ rights," said organizers of the two entities in a statement.
How narrow-minded and insular.
They think that this will get us mad, but what it does shows how stupid and narrow minded they are.
There will be a rally the Stonewall Inn at noon today!
National and local LGBTQ organizations and activists are calling for a protest at noon Friday, Feb. 14 — Valentine’s Day — at the Stonewall National Monument in Christopher Park, 7th Avenue South at Christopher Street in West Village, New York City, in response to actions taken earlier today (Thursday, Feb. 13) by the National Park Service to remove “transgender” and “queer” from the monument.
Online they call for...
“NO LGB WITHOUT THE TThe Trump Administration has erased trans people from the stonewall national monument website… we will not allow Trump and his hatemongers to redefine our communities or our history!”
