To me this doesn't sound like a "Glorious Little War!" No if they are thinking about a draft!
The Brief
- In 2024, the House of Representatives passed a measure to automatically register men aged 18 to 26 for the Selective Service as part of the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
- While a draft has not been invoked in over 50 years, federal law still mandates that nearly all male U.S. citizens and immigrants register upon turning 18 or face felony charges.
- The draft remains inactive; it would require specific authorization from both Congress and the president to be reinstated during a national emergency.

Why is all this starting to show up in the news now? Responsible Statecraft writes,
This doesn’t mean that a draft is being activated right away, or that those registered will be sent induction orders — although preparing to do so is the sole purpose of making this list. This will, however, be the largest change in Selective Service law since 1980, and will move the U.S. closer to activation of a draft than at any time in the last half century.
The question still remains... why now? Does Trump & Company think that this will be a long drawn out war?
I will keep my fingers crossed that they will reinstate a draft. Why? Well let's look at the anti-war movement against Vietnam. One of the big big issues was the draft it brought thousands into the streets. Very few wanted their kid to come home in a box and very few young folks wanted that either. Today the present administration has stirred up so much crap that if a draft became a reality its really no way of telling which way the wind will blow then. There are plenty of lessons to learn from back in the day, from those who refused and their allies. If I was a person who crossed their fingers I would do so that no sleeper cell attacks within the u.s. There is no telling how many mouths would shut tight and feet would stop marching. Probably would be the same if a democrat wins the next election you know the party who cares about the workers, doesn't drop bombs on others and requires the big corporations who make money on the murder of innocent people to share it with all amerikkkans rather than make the rich richer. That is one side of me. The other, now I am too old to sit in at the inductions centers or the draft register offices, get arrested, jailed and all the rest as I did when the beloved Jimmy Carter reinstated the draft. So I will leave that up to the young. My only advice is start now. REFUSE! Open the people's history books, LGBTQI+people read OurStories of the real deal peaceful loving people who more than likely are not found in song, read all about the resistance movements, learn from them, tweak them, wheels always need a good cleaning or retreading, blow fresh air into it all. Your very lives are at stake and you are worth more than any fascist, redneck, politician, boss or religious nut.
