Oil?
Replace the Shah?
Ego?
Religious prophecy?
A
distraction from dropping poll numbers?
All five?
Oil
— did he do it for his oil friends, hoping to create another Shah
of Iran?
A brief history of Iran’s oil:
- Oil was first discovered in Iran in 1908.
- British Petroleum controlled the oil, and Iran received only a small share of the revenues.
- In 1951, the Iranian parliament (Majlis) nationalized the oil industry.
- MI6 and the CIA didn’t like that, so they orchestrated a coup that removed Mosaddegh and restored power to Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran.
- The oil flowed again through British and American hands.
- In 1979, the Iranian Revolution forced the Shah to flee and led to the establishment of the Islamic Republic, which nationalized the oil once again.
Does Trump dream of a new “Trump Doctrine,” like the Monroe Doctrine?
The biblical Book of Revelation describes dramatic final events involving these regions, and many of Trump’s Christian followers believe it is coming. Is Trump playing into that belief?
All of Trump’s problems are piling up: ICE violence, rising costs of living, Epstein, and tanking popularity. Does he think a “glorious little war” will distract the public?
What are Trump’s real reasons? Time will
tell. But one thing is obvious… he has whacked a hornet’s nest,
and this is not over. No matter what Trump says, the Middle East has a long memory.

The history prior to 1979 is pretty much irrelevant. The millenarian Shia islamist regime in Tehran has been at war with the USA, Israel, the West and many middle-eastern states since the revolution. I don't care what the orange man's motives are provided he follows through and the regime falls.
ReplyDeleteThis is a regime which slaughtered many thousands, probably tens of thousands of civilians in January, where they have forced sex changes for gay men and which has from its very beginning been committed to genocide of Israel's Jews. It is also a deeply misogynist regime, where a woman can be beaten to death by the Basij paramilitaries for not covering her hair properly.
Most Iranians would gladly have a democratic system like in the USA or Britain rather than their window dressing fake democracy, even if it through up a few poor results.
Compared to the monsters in Tehran, Trump's failings are relatively minor.
Please see the big picture.
Penny.
The big picture is that we will be fighting a war for a long time, long time. There will be no coup in Iran. It is a it's a tyrannical regime, no doubt about it and they will use deadly force on their own people. They are ready bombed middle east countries. Their missiles can reach Europe.
DeleteThis is what Russia thought about Ukraine, a short glorious little war. You don't think that Iran hasn't been watching what is happening in Ukraine?
I am seeing the big picture... that we can end up with attacks on our soil.
