It Is Doing What Trump Wants It To Do.

[Editorial]

I am at a crossroads with my blog. It is taking an emotional toll on me.

It is hard writing about all the injustices. I don’t just write about them—I read many articles on the topic, and that’s the part that is really getting to me.

There are so many people out there encouraging ICE to bash more heads. There are so many cheering the killing. They see ICE as heroes defending the nation. I can’t understand it.

I read comments to get a sense of how people are thinking (I used to be on the Family Institute of Connecticut email list to keep up with what they were saying), and the tone is starting to change over what ICE is doing. The polls are showing it.

I think Trump is on a downward spiral, and I also think that is when he is most dangerous. I have seen one judge’s order after another ignored. There are executive orders being shot down by the courts one after another. As his poll numbers tank, I worry that he is going to do something crazy on election day.

He lashes out at one group one day and praises them the next. He slaps a huge tariff on a country, then rolls it back. He singles out states that didn’t vote for him and makes personal demands of them, like naming railroad stations after him. He’s vindictive.

I worry that he is going to do something reckless along the lines of January 6 if Congress flips.

So I don’t know where my blog is heading. My daily hits are around 2,000 to 10,000 per day, and that weighs on my thoughts. Some days I just want to walk away; the next day I publish five blogs.

I don’t want to publish negative stories all the time, but there is so much bad out there that I just can’t leave it unchallenged.

  1. Diana,
Stop scrolling the web, go see a good movie, tell us about it and the nice meal you had before it. Get a "normal" life and tell us about it. You have paid your dues and will read you blog while you decompress and when you are ready to return to this, we will still be here. Thanks for all you do.

First let me say thank you for all of your essays. As I have said before yours in one of the most important blogs around here. First I am going to tell a little story. Many years ago my spouse Tim was overwhelmed by Ronald Raygun. Couldn't stop talking about him and how evil he was. Day and night. Even his father asked him not to come for a visit anymore if that is all he could talk about. One day a old friend of ours who had been in a concentration camp in Europe said to him, "you know you are allowing Raygun to control your life." You must get a handle on it. Now I am not say that this applies to you but will say you are being consumed by the horror of the world today. You see and feel. I have said before I don't know how you can do it every day except Saturday. But do I have any advice for you? No. As I am feeling the same way about my work and blog. But then when I see visitors from around the world in many places they could be in danger to read my work I say if I stop then what will they do? I have tried many times. But # 1 you must and I am sure everyone has said this to you before think about Diana. You are a very valuable member of our Connecticut community. Maybe think about and only do just a small number of postings, as there are quite a number posting about these issues. I wonder if there is any group for folks who are in the same boat as you? Stop reading comments, reviewing any stories that you know are from the Fascist point of view. You can't go on and on ringing that danger bell as your arm is already tired. Diana, call Linda she usually has some good ideas. Be well and safe and much love to you.
