Trump shares racist video depicting Obamas as apes
CBS NewsBy Melissa Quinn
Updated on: February 6, 2026President Trump posted to social media late Thursday an election-conspiracy video that includes racist footage depicting former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama as apes.
The video, which is just over a minute long, promotes false claims that the 2020 presidential election was rigged against Mr. Trump. Toward the end of the video is a roughly two-second clip that shows the Obamas' heads edited onto the bodies of primates, with the song "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" playing.
Mr. Trump shared the video to his Truth Social account at 11:44 p.m. Thursday.
Obama was the nation's first Black president and Michelle Obama was the first Black first lady. Mr. Trump has a history of sharing disparaging and racist memes about the Obamas. The president also amplified for years a conspiracy theory that Obama was born in Kenya and therefore ineligible to serve as president. Amid pressure to disavow the so-called "birther" claim, Mr. Trump finally said during the 2016 presidential campaign that "President Obama was born in the United States. Period."
Trump true colors have come out! He follows in his father's KKK footsteps!
The Guardian writes that,
By 8.30am ET Friday, the post had attracted about 4,000 likes but also garnered outrage from both sides of the aisle for the inclusion of such a blatant racist trope about the US’s first Black president and his wife, both Democrats.
That also says a lot about his loyal followers!
“There’s no ‘misinterpretation’ and no excuse. This is who he is, who he’s always been, and why he should never be anywhere near power again. And there’s a reason the tapes from The Apprentice have never been released,” he said.
US President Donald Trump has removed a social media video which included a racist clip depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes. The clip - set to the song The Lion Sleeps Tonight - was at the end of a 62-second video containing claims about voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.Republican Senator Tim Scott - who is black - had called for the president to remove the post, describing it as "the most racist thing I've seen out of this White House".The White House initially defended the clip as an "internet meme video" and told critics to "stop the fake outrage".The clip - which is reminiscent of racist caricatures comparing black people to monkeys - appears to be taken from an X post shared by conservative meme creator Xerias in October. That video also depicts several other high-profile Democrats as animals, including New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.Trump's predecessor in the White House, Joe Biden, also is depicted as an ape eating a banana.
How the hell did he think that this was appropriate!

This is what they are now saying, The Guardian writes;
Multiple outlets cite a senior White House official as saying:A White House staffer erroneously made the post. It has been taken down. The post was up for 12 hours.
You know this is actually worsen the incident. Think about what they are saying, that it implies that racist content is circulating casually enough inside the operation that a staffer had it ready to post.

This photo says it all about why the White House didn't think anything about the video...

More updates on Trump's racist post... he is not apologizing!
Asked if he condemns the racist part of the video, Trump said, "Of course I do."ABC NewsBy Justin Gomez , Isabella Murray, Hannah Demissie, Michelle Stoddart, Sarah Kolinovsky, and Nicholas KerrFebruary 6, 2026President Donald Trump told reporters he didn't see the entire video before it was shared on his social media platform late Thursday night that included a racist animation of former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama depicted with the bodies of apes and suggested he won't apologize for it.Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Friday evening, Trump said he only saw the first part of the since-deleted video that focused on debunked claims about the 2020 election."I guess during the end of it, there was some kind of picture people don't like. I wouldn't like it either, but I didn't see it," Trump said. "I just, I looked at the first part, and it was really about voter fraud."
Okay this raises many, many more questions!
What he just said was, he doesn't review stuff that he signs that are is in his name! So he lets underling write and post stuff on social media with knowing what's being posted! That is scary!
Asked if he would apologize for the video, Trump said, "No, I didn't make a mistake. I mean ... I look at a lot of, thousands of, things, and I looked at the beginning of it. It was fine."
So he admits that he is doing a half-ass of running the White House!
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, when first asked for comment early Friday, had said, "This is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from the Lion King. Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public."
My dear, we are not faking it! And if you don't see it you are just as bad as your boss!
