There was a time when the morons who believed fringe conspiracy theories about chemtrails and weather manipulation were treated like the crackpot weirdos that they are. Now that Republicans have gone absolutely mad, though, those same conspiracy theorists have gained enough political influence that lawmakers have introduced a string of bills to ban chemtrails that don’t exist. Now Florida State Senator Ileana Garcia has joined the fun, filing SB 56, a bill to ban all forms of weather modification.
First of all how the heck can they even enforce the ban?
Did you ever watch 12 O’clock High when you were a kid? Did you ever notice the contrails from the B-17? Ever since planes few with pressurized cabins they have been contrails! UCAR Center for Science Education writes;
The white streaks you see coming off high-flying jet airplanes are called contrails, which is short for condensation trail. Contrails are clouds that form when water vapor condenses and freezes around small particles (aerosols) in aircraft exhaust. The water vapor comes from the air around the plane and the exhaust of the aircraft. These contrails can become human-made cirrus clouds. Contrails last longer when there is a greater amount of water in the air; when all of the water in the clouds evaporates the contrail disappears. There are three types of contrails: short-lived, persistent non-spreading, and persistent spreading.
So with great ado the coveted Cuckoo Award is to (Drum roll please) Florida State Senator Ileana Garcia and a special runner up award is given to Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene for her comments that the federal government is literally controlling the weather, we’re controlling the weather to make hurricanes hit Florida!
