You will need a criminal background check to go to the bathroom!

Yup, that is the school policy for trans students… ACLU is taking notice.

A county school board in Virginia has voted to require transgender students seeking to use bathrooms that align with their gender identity to present written requests to school officials — and possibly their disciplinary or criminal records.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Tuesday that the Hanover County School Board’s new policy also gives the board final say in the decision.

In addition, the policy suggests students submit signed statements from doctors or therapists to school administrators verifying that they have been diagnosed with “gender dysphoria and/or that the student consistently and authentically expresses a binary gender identity.”

The policy also suggests that students and their parents present a child’s disciplinary or criminal records.

Grace Zweckbronner, a transgender student who spoke at a news conference held by Equality Virginia, said the policy was invasive and “targeted bullying.”

“Transgender and nonbinary students just want to use the bathroom in peace,” Zweckbronner said.
These people ignore the law and hope to overturn all LGBTQ+ non-discrimination laws. Little things like the Fourteenth Amendment, the Title IX laws, and the privacy of the students.

Hanover School Board Chairman John F. Axselle III told local television station WRIC-TV that the policy was the result of an effort between the board, its attorney and counsel from Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF).

ADF is an anti-LGBTQ legal advocacy organization that has been designated as an extremist hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
You remember the ADF they have their thumb in the case of the trans student athletes case here in Connecticut.

I remember the Supreme Court case that said that a school could not ban LGBTQ+ clubs after school… BUT it had to be open to everyone at school not just LGBTQ+ students and allies. Not a court ignored that part of it.

In spring 2019, a teacher at Pioneer High School in San Jose posted a message on his classroom whiteboard questioning a “Sexual Purity” statement that a club for Christian student athletes was requiring its leaders to sign.

The club’s statement said sexual relationships should exist only between married, heterosexual couples. The teacher wrote that he was “deeply saddened” that a club on the public school campus made its leaders “affirm” those ideas, and he asked students what they thought.

The resulting firestorm led to the San Jose Unified School District rescinding recognition of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for excluding LGBTQ students in violation of the district’s nondiscrimination policy. In response, the club and its international parent organization sued in federal court, alleging religious discrimination.

On Monday, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes won a major victory when a three-judge panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ordered the club be reinstated as an official student group for the current school year while litigation between the parties continues in the lower district court.
You see we can’t discriminate but they can because they claim that they are “holier than thou” you see they have special rights they can ignore the laws by just saying the magic words, repeat after me, “It is against my firmly held religious beliefs that…” VoilĂ  you are now exempt from the law.

More on the impact of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law.
District officials said Florida’s new ‘parental rights in education’ law prompted the change.

In a widely anticipated move, Pasco County superintendent Kurt Browning on Thursday instructed employees to remove “safe space” stickers from all schools.

The stickers typically have rainbow designs and indicate support for LGBTQ students.

Citing Florida’s new “parental rights in education” law, Browning noted in his memo to staff that schools are now required to inform parents of any changes to their children’s services or monitoring related to the mental, emotional, or physical health or well-being.
[…]
Over the past few years, the district has faced criticism from community members about the stickers. Some residents have told the School Board as recently as Tuesday that the stickers appear to offer special services to certain students, most often in the LGBTQ community, and provide cover for educators to hide information from parents.
WAIT A MINUTE!

“… the stickers appear to offer special services to certain students …” straight cis-gender students have a safe space everywhere, it is because LGBTQ+ students get bullied, get harassed, and get physically attacked is why they need a “safe space.”
This is a developing story. Return to tampabay.com for updates. Below is the text of Browning’s email Thursday to all administrators and instructional staff:
Pasco County Schools has a diverse population of students, staff, and parents, and as a school district we respect and support the diversity of views and lifestyle choices. It is important that we make our support evident in policy and in practice, and that we reiterate our commitment to supporting all students.
The hair on my hackles raised up when I read that, “lifestyle choices” WTF! The conservative BS they think that one day we wake up in the morning and “What the hell! I want to be bullied, harassed, beat up and discriminated against! This is how sick they are.
