Two of the blogs that I follow have gone dark… one after seventeen years and the other after nine year.
I don’t understand why they stopped publishing we need positive roll models now more than ever, through our blogs we reach more than the trans community. Wednesday last week I wrote “This Is How We Change People's Minds” we give hope to our community and now more than ever we have to show that we will not be intimidated into silence. That we will not be forced back into the closet!
I will continue to be a beacon of hope. I will not kowtow to them.
I am here and I am queer! And I will not be silenced!

I've been posting my politics all over the Internet for years.
ReplyDeleteBut on Wednesday I seriously thought about scrubbing everything. I am a student of his and know all too well what totalitarian regimes do to dissidents. I can't seem to find my fighting spirit right now, I feel a mixture of disgust, despair and fear.
Perhaps that is why those blogs have shut down. They feel what I feel.
I was really disappointed when I brought up "Femulate" and saw a big black square with the note that it is no more. One has to wonder what the effect will be on the free expression of thought. As a teen in the 1960's there was no information in the public forum. I feared the consequences of discovery. How many teens with questions of their sexual identity will think "They are coming for me because I am different?"
ReplyDeleteWell I'm doing a little arm twisting to see if I can talk her in to starting again.
DeleteYOU GO, GIRL! I haven't gone out much, but I now realize I will have to go out more. There is more need than ever to put a human face on who we are. Surrendering to bullies only encourages them. Worried about my safety? Perhaps. But I'm a damn site more worried about my freedom.

ReplyDeleteAnd ready to give them hell!
