Saturday 9

Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: My Baby Just Cares for Me (2016)
On Saturdays I take a break from the heavy stuff and have some fun…

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.

1) Michael Buble sings that his lover doesn't care much about the theater or new clothes. Which have you done more recently -- attended a play or movie or added to your wardrobe?
I would have liked to go see South Pacific but nobody want to go, I don't like going to the movies because I don't like sitting for all that time, it is hard on the back. So that leaves adding to my wardrobe... I just bought this.

2) This song was first performed in 1930, 45 years before Buble was born. What pop song do you love that is far older than you are?
Ha! There are not many pop songs older than me… I was born right after WWII when "Rock 'n Roll" was born!

3) The video for this song features a spinning vinyl record. Do you still have a turntable?
Yes, but the belts need replacing. They are 50 years old!

4) Michael is currently appearing on The Voice. Are you watching this season?
Nope, and I never have.

5) Of all his albums, Michael Buble's Christmas CD is his top seller. Now that we're in the month of November it's time for you to weigh in: When do you think it's appropriate to start playing holiday songs?
Grrr… The town already has the lights on! Driving around town I see a lot Christmas trees in windows… Bah Humbug!

6) He unwinds by fishing, and he's very good at it. Fishing is a sport that requires lots of gear. Is there anyone in your life that has a hobby or passion that makes them easy to shop for?
Photography! Now is anyone surprised?

7) Michael is a good cook and enjoys whipping up spaghetti bolognese. What's on the menu at your home this weekend?
I was thinking about making Skillet Tuscan Shrimp in Creamy Sun Dried Tomato Sauce for Sunday dinner but with pork tenderloin instead shrimp.

8) In 2016, when Michael Buble released this song, the United States Postal Service posthumously honored child star Shirley Temple with a postage stamp. Decades after leaving Hollywood, she served as US Ambassador to Ghana. Could you find Ghana on a map or globe?
Yes, I know where it is… off the west coast of Africa.

9) Random question -- You neglected that soft drink and now it's gone flat. Do you drink it anyway or dump it down the drain?
I don’t drink soft drinks too many carbs and I don’t like the taste of artificial sweetener.

I had a crazy week with a lot of ups and downs.
  • Sunday: I went to a civil rights rally with a thousand other people and sat on a metal folding chair for 2 1/2 hours and it killed my back (You can read about else where on my blog.).
  • Monday: I changed my safety deposit box from my brother to my nephew, and they both needed to be there. (And I got my passport to renew it. In case I have to flee the country of my birth.)
  • Tuesday: I had lunch with my brother and sister-in-law probably for the last time... very, very emotional. (I mean I cried all the way back home and I am tearing up now writing this) They are moving into my niece's in-law-apartment down in New Jersey, I will probably only see them on holidays. We are approaching our end of lives (They are 81 and 79) and that brings me up to...
  • Wednesday: I had an interview with a UConn School of Social Work student who is majoring in geriatrics care... Her: "What do you think about dying?" Me: "Well it is the last thing that I want to do."
  • Wednesday evening: a memorial service for those who were murdered this past year. Also sat in a metal folding chair but this time for only 1 1/2 hours.
  • Thursday: Spoke to interns at UConn School of Social Work, this time a more friendly topic about how I used my MSW. A friend who is an adjunct professor there teaches the class and she was also my intern supervisor when I was going for my MSW.
  • Friday: A doctor appointment.
Whew!

Want to know how I make the fancy dividers? In your blog got to "HTML" and use...

<hr color="purple" size="5px" width="66%" />

Where the color can be most colors like red, blue, green, etc.
The size is the thickness expressed in pixels.
And width is well the width expressed in percentage.

  1. You’ve had a busy week. I’m not a fan of metal folding chairs either. Nice shirt.

I haven't got my passport yet but if I have to shoot my way out then I will. But I laughed when I heard yesterday, "If trump doesn't get us then more than likely Putin's nukes will." At least you had the sense to sit in a chair. Pity the folks standing for all that time. Are we any closer to getting "there" after last Sunday? Yeah, we know we are not alone, well I will love to see that theory in practice as I have found that most folks who are LGBT to be a selfish centered lot.

  6. I would have gone to see South Pacific too! I used to watch many of those old musicals with my mom and they were timeless! I can't sit in metal chairs either since I have veery little "padding" I have cushion I carry around when I need to. I hope you get more rest next week.

  7. There are gazillions of pop songs older than you! Like this week's song. To borrow from South Pacific, you may not be "younger than springtime," but you're not THAT old, Diana! "In case I have to flee the country of my birth," is the saddest thing I've heard in a while. My heart goes out to you.
