When we kiss… it is “In your face!”
When we hold hands… it is “In your face!”
When we just go out in public… it is “In your face!”
When we have a healthcare clinic… it is firebombed.
Arson at Georgia gender-affirming care clinic investigated as hate crime
A fire at a clinic that provides gender-affirming care is being looked at through the lens of recently passed hate crime legislation.

Authorities in Georgia are investigating an arson fire that happened last year as an anti-LGBTQ+ hate crime.
The Decatur Fire Department confirmed that a fire at a gender clinic within the historic Blair Building, which happened on October 30, was a deliberate act of arson and is now being investigated as a potential hate crime.
Atlanta TV station WANF reports that the Decatur Fire Department quickly contained the fire. Although the blaze was limited to one office and resulted in no injuries, the investigation led to a stark conclusion: the fire was intentionally set.
This disturbing event targeted QMed, a clinic well known for its gender-affirming care for transgender and nonbinary patients. Dr. Izzy Lowell, the owner of QMed, informed WANF that the fire destroyed their office.
All this rhetoric is stirring up animosity and anger against anyone who are different from them, this is a direct result of Republican politicians using us to drive a wedge into society… to gain power. To gain votes.
Authoritarians around the world are using us to gain and stay in power by oppressing us and using us as their whipping boy for all the wrongs in the world. Instead of the greed of the oligarchs.
I didn’t watch the Super Bowl but I heard about the “Christian Ad” so I looked it up on the interent.
First of all if they want to spend millions on the ad, that is their right. But it is our right to criticize it.
I came across on Yahoo News an article by Salon about the ad and some of the comments were…
So much hate. No one knows motivation, intent, and 'political' views unless you speak, in a civilized manner and are willing to listen to both sides. So much hate...
This country is in serious trouble and it seems all people care about is being their definition of 'right' and calling out, viciously, those that don't share the same vision. I wish you all peace.
They don't see the harm they are doing to people, all they thing about are themselves, not about anyone else and the harm they are doing to them. They are blind to empathy, they are indifferent to other people.
One of the questions asked was who paid for the ad?
Did you ever hear of the Green family? Do you remember the case of Burwell v. Hobby Lobby in 2014? Well the billionaire Green family are one of the owners of Hobby Lobby.
The headline of a Salon article says it all.
I can just imagine a slave owner whose slaves have rebelled saying, “I just don’t understand it. I feed them and put a roof over their heads and this is how they treat me!”Hobby Lobby-funded Jesus Super Bowl ads can't hide the hate that fuels the Christian right
The "He Gets Us" ads are an expensive bait-and-switch trying to trick people into believing in MAGA Jesus
By AMANDA MARCOTTE
FEBRUARY 13, 2024Of the many weird, cringeworthy, or confusing ads to run in the Super Bowl on Sunday, one stood out as especially eyeroll-inducing: a footwashing ad from the "He Gets Us" campaign. The commercial flashed a series of images of people washing another person's feet, with most offering an attention-grabbing role reversal of oppressor and oppressed: A cop washing a young Black man's feet, a white woman serving a migrant, and, for the one that made me guffaw the loudest, an anti-abortion protester kneeling before a presumed patient of a family planning clinic. "Jesus didn't teach hate," reads the tagline as an INXS cover plays. "He washed feet."
The funders of the ad were obscure to the audience, leaving open the question: Are the people behind this simply naive? Are they the last remaining liberal Christians, trying to convince Donald Trump-obsessed evangelicals to stop the tidal wave of hate? Or is this ad a bait-and-switch, trying to lure unchurched people in with a phony message of love and acceptance, only to push them into joining up with the MAGA movement?
There's no point in phony suspense here: It's option number three. Jesus may have been against lying, but his wealthiest self-appointed champions in American society do not hesitate to use deceit to build up their army of MAGA Christianity.
When we hold hands… it is “In your face!”
When we just go out in public… it is “In your face!”
Well the ad was “In your face!” by people who you want to oppress, us. By the people who you want to criminalize, us. By the people you want to control what we do with our bodies, by people who you want to control what we can say, by people who you want to control what we read, by people who you want to control who we love. And they wonder why we get upset?
Diana, I hear that around too, “I have no problem with gay people, love who you want, just don’t shove it in my face!”.
ReplyDeleteMmm, but a St8 display of affection is “oh, how nice”. Lovely couple.
Friends often say there is really no need for gay bars anymore because people are free to love and marry who they like. Where I live if a gay couple go out for dinner they best not be too overt in their affection for each other. I can just imagine 2 males kissing at the restaurant or in line at the movies.
Just my cynical opinion, but I hear what you are saying.
