Saturday 9: Long Cool Woman

On Saturdays I take a break from the heavy stuff and have some fun…

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This week's song begins with Hollies' lead singer Allan Clarke telling us of a Saturday night trip downtown, taken at the behest of the FBI. What are your plans for Saturday night? (No, we don't expect you to tell us you'll be working undercover for a government agency.)
Um… plans? I’ll just be home listening to an audio book.

2) At a bar, he meets a woman in a black dress. The LBD, or little black dress, is a wardrobe staple for many women because it's appropriate for almost any occasion. Let's say you get a last-minute invitation for a "dressy" dinner this weekend and you don't have the time or money to buy something new. What's your go-to outfit from your closet?
I have two LBDs. One for the summer and one for the cooler weather.

3) Everyone at the bar starts to run when they hear sirens. Do you often hear sirens in your neighborhood?
Yes, there goes one now! There is a state road behind my house and ambulances and fire trucks are always going by.
P.S. When I was posting this Friday night, there are red and blue flashing lights I can see through the trees, It looks like they nabbed another speeder.

4) In 1972, the year this week's song was on the charts, Popeye's opened their first fast-food chicken restaurant in Louisiana. Now that the Thanksgiving feast is over, will you be eating any carry-out this weekend?
Nope. I didn’t take home any leftovers.

5) Black is this week's signature color because November 24 was Black Friday, when retailers historically have slashed their prices and the holiday shopping season begins. Have you begun your gift shopping?
Ha! That assumes I do shopping. We don’t exchange gifts, we do a Yankee Swap.
Everyone picks a number, no. 1 goes first, and can pick any of the mystery items. They open the gift and show the group what they got, and then it's No. 2's turn. They have two options: pick a new gift from the pile, or steal the first gift opened — the "swap" in Yankee Swap. If they decide to take No. 1's gift, No. 1 then picks a new, unwrapped gift. This process continues as each person takes their turn in numerical order until all the gifts have been opened.

6) Walmart, Best Buy and Target all advertise heavily on Black Friday. If you could have a $100 gift card from one of those stores, which would you choose? What would you buy?
Something electronic. I'm actually looking for a new phone.

7) This Monday is sometimes known as Cyber Monday because shoppers can find big savings online. Do you shop confidently online, or do you worry about security breaches and identity theft?
I have one credit card that I never use on-line, I figured that is card gets compromised I would have a working credit card.

A skimmer on one to parking kiosk that you get a receipt for parking, I put my credit card in to the reader to buy an hour parking and the next thing I know I had all these bogus charges.

8) What are you thankful for this year?
That I am not pushing up daisies. Hey at my age every day is a blessing.

9) Random question: Who was the last person you spoke to on the phone (texting doesn't count)?
My brother.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!

  2. #5: So it's not a new item that you shopped for but something you had around the house?
#8: I recently found my info was hacked and it wasn't from shopping, either.

    1. No, it has to be around $10, I usually get something from the Red Sox, Celtics, or the Bruins... sports are big in my brother's family.
