There Is One Thing That We Know…

…Is that love reduces bad outcomes when a child transitions. By having supportive parents children are less likely to self-harm, it is amazing the drop between having a support network and having parents who try to force their child straight.

A mother from Kentucky is honoring her son coming out as transgender with an "it's a boy"-themed photo shoot for his 20th birthday.

Heather Green of Louisville shared pictures of her family celebrating her eldest child, Adrian Brown, 20, along with a message supporting his announcement. The post quickly garnered more than 20,000 likes and 15,000 shares on Facebook.

"All the things we go through as parents -- when they bring home a good report card, or get a lead in a musical, but nothing came to mind on what to say or do when your child tells you that they're transitioning," Green told "GMA."
The article goes on to say,
"When your child comes out as trans, the best thing to do is create a photo shoot to celebrate the fact that he silently and bravely stepped out of the race that he never wanted to be in, found his own lane and proceeded to win. HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY, Adrian!" Green wrote on Facebook.
It was so wonderful what they did but I have to say about this “…the best thing to do is create a photo shoot to celebrate the fact that he silently and bravely stepped out…” is to follow your child’s lead. Not every child wants a photo spread of their transition so ask first, some my just want to quietly transition and not make a big production out of their transition.

Meanwhile down in Florida a judge is letting conversion therapy continue while the case is appealed.

TAMPA — Working to change gender identity through a process known as “conversion therapy” has been deemed ineffective among mental health experts and broadly derided for techniques that can include electric shock.
But last week, a federal judge ruled that the city of Tampa must allow some parts of the therapy to continue despite a city ordinance adopted in April 2017 that bans it.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Amanda Arnold Sansone issued a limited injunction against the ordinance, affirming the ban on electric shock while finding that verbal counseling is protected by the First Amendment.

The injunction was issued in response to a December 2017 lawsuit by the Christian legal advocacy group the Liberty Counsel challenging the city ordinance.

“This well-reasoned opinion underscores the serious First Amendment violations of laws that dictate what a counselor and client may discuss in the privacy of their counseling session,” Mat Staver, Liberty Counsel’s founder and chairman, said on the group’s website.
This is not about the First Amendment this is about saving lives, this is about a medical practice that causes harm, this is about voodoo magic.

It is the equivalent of the medieval practices of bloodletting, conversion therapy is banned by every medical and psychiatric professional association in America, it is not about free speech but about children’s healthcare.

I have a dentist appointment this late afternoon, over the weekend I cracked a tooth and I am getting it fixed. I have a love hate relationship with Novocain; I love the fact that you feel no pain but afterward as you drool out of one side of your numbed mouth. I wish that there was something like naloxone where you get a spray up your nose and it turns off the Novocain.
