AP NewsBy NICOLE WINFIELDSeptember 1, 2025Pope Leo XIV met Monday with one of the most prominent advocates for greater LGBTQ+ inclusion in the Catholic Church and encouraged his ministry, sending a strong signal of welcome in the early months of his pontificate. The Rev. James Martin, a New York-based Jesuit author and editor, said Leo told him he intended to continue Pope Francis’ policy of LGBTQ+ acceptance in the church and encouraged him to keep up his advocacy.“I heard the same message from Pope Leo that I heard from Pope Francis, which is the desire to welcome all people, including LGBTQ people,” Martin told The Associated Press after the audience. “It was wonderful. It was very consoling and very encouraging and frankly a lot of fun.”
We love you!... But keep you legs crossed!
Their policy for lesbians and gay...
- Sex out side of marriage is wrong.
- Marriage is between a man and a woman.
- But we love you just the same... just don't have sex!
And for us...
- Biological sex is a permanent and God-given reality
- Medical intervention are violations of the integrity of the human body
- Living in a gender other than one’s biological sex as a form of personal and moral confusion
But we love you, just live in agony for the rest of your life!
The audience was significant because it showed a strong sign of continuity with Francis, who more than any of Leo’s predecessors worked to make the Catholic Church a more welcoming place for LGBTQ+ Catholics. From his 2013 quip, “Who am I to judge?” about a purportedly gay priest, to his decision to allow priests to bless same-sex couples, Francis distinguished himself with his message of welcome.
Yeah, right! I have another bridge to sell you in Brooklyn!
Meanwhile... the Trump administration sticks the Vatican with a homophobe...
Brian Burch, cofounder of CatholicVote, criticized Pope Francis's decision to bless same-sex couples. The AdvocateBy Trudy RingAugust 06 2025Brian Burch, the cofounder and former president of anti-LGBTQ+ group CatholicVote, has been confirmed as ambassador to the Vatican. The U.S. Senate Saturday voted 49-44, along party lines, to confirm Burch, who was critical of Pope Francis’s outreach to the LGBTQ+ community. Donald Trump, who was endorsed by CatholicVote, nominated Burch in December.Democratic Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii had placed a hold several months ago on Burch’s and other State Department nominations in protest of the Trump administration’s dismantling of the U.S. Agency for International Development. Senate Majority Leader John Thune, a Republican, invoked cloture, a procedural move, last week to lift the hold, Catholic News Agency reports. After Francis approved blessings for same-sex couples in 2023, Burch went on the right-wing outlet Newsmax to say the pope’s action had created confusion. Francis said the blessings should not resemble marriage ceremonies and that they were for the individuals, not the relationship.
And this is the guy Lord Ruler Trump appointed as an ambassador!
Today is travel day...
Doctors appointments... This week and then support group meetings next week. If the Saturday meeting isn't held then I head back to the cottage on Friday. But I have Zoom meeting on the 12th. I am not going to wait around before they decide at the last minute to hold it.
(Hint: If there is no 3pm post, then you know that I go off to a late start.)
