Distilling.

[Editorial]

You’ve heard the claim that Democrats are “made up of special interest groups” such as labor unions, environmentalists, civil rights groups, LGBTQ+ advocates, teachers, and others—and that these groups fragment the party. I think there is some truth to that, but they are all united under a banner of caring for others and for the environment. The thing is, Trump is uniting them all against him. He has gone after each and every one of these groups, thereby bringing them together.

On the other hand, Republicans are united behind bigotry. They rally under the banner of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Ask yourself this question: what are they for? They are not for smaller government—my God, look at what they have expanded: ICE and DHS. Look at who they are targeting—and I mean targeting: ANTIFA, groups that defend us, higher education, and the list is almost endless.

They prey on people’s fears. Look at the elections and Trump claiming that Haitians were eating pets. That was racist. His statements are so numerous that it’s impossible to keep up with them.

Look at the attacks on Jewish religious services—by definition, those are hate crimes. They instill fear throughout an entire community. The same is true of attacks on LGBTQ+ nightclubs; people think twice about going. That is exactly what hate crimes are meant to do.

I went to a support group’s holiday party last night, and I’d bet that in the back of some of our minds we were thinking, “Are we safe here as a group?”

That is what this party is pushing.

Trump has the Epstein Files around his neck and his son Barron has Andrew Tate. Who?
Andrew Tate’s alliance with Trump has been in the making for a long time
Trump’s attempts to intervene in Tate’s rape and human trafficking cases in Romania might seem strange, but their worlds are intimately linked

Ever since I began reporting on Andrew Tate four years ago (during which time my colleague Jamie Tahsin and I made two documentaries, wrote a book on him and interviewed his alleged rape victims), I’ve been sounding the alarm on the far-right disinformation network that connects him to Trump’s inner circle.

Earlier this month, the US special envoy Richard Grenell, a vocal supporter of Andrew Tate, pressured the Romanian government to remove judicial control restrictions on the Tate brothers, demanding that the alleged human traffickers be allowed to travel freely, according to sources who spoke to the Financial Times. The Romanian government has since confirmed this was a request but denied there was political “pressure”.

The alliance between the Trump administration and the Tate brothers has been in the making for a long time. Paul Ingrassia, one of the lawyers Andrew Tate hired to fight his human trafficking case, was recently sworn in as the White House liaison for the Department of Justice. According to him, the Tate brothers were “sacrificed on the altar of the Matrix under the banner of egregious crimes they never committed”.
Trump and this trash were friends with Epstein! And it not just the two of them, also involved in the web including Tucker Carlson and other media stars of the right...
Andrew Tate has been friends since 2016 with Donald Trump Jr, who called Tate’s detention “absolute insanity”. Donald Trump himself also appeared on a stream with the Andrew Tate sycophant and collaborator Adin Ross in August 2024. Around the same time, JD Vance appeared on the pro-Tate podcast the Nelk Boys.

Elon Musk responded to Tate’s plan to “run for prime minister of the UK” by saying “he’s not wrong” and JD Vance followed both Tate brothers on X in December.
But the story is more complicated then just knowing one another. For that story we turn to the Emerald Island,
The Tate escape: How a ‘manosphere’ star accused of rape and trafficking was freed
Barred from leaving Romania, Andrew Tate courted powerful figures on the American right, from Tucker Carlson to Barron Trump. Then an extraordinary order let him go
The Irish Time

Days before Donald Trump’s return to the White House in early 2025, Andrew Tate got some good news.

Tate and his brother, Tristan, swaggering influencers in the so-called manosphere, had been under criminal investigation in Romania since 2022, accused of coercing women into pornography. Andrew Tate was also accused of rape and of having sex with and beating a 15-year-old. The brothers, American and British citizens, had been barred from leaving Romania while prosecutors built their case.

Now, in a January 14th text message, Tate indicated that help was on the way.

“I had word from The Trump admin that theyre on top of things,” Tate wrote to someone close to him, in a message. “Ive been told ill be free soon but Trump needs to see me in Miami.” [sic]

[...]

Their arrival in the United States opened a rare rift among conservatives and raised suspicions over whether the White House had intervened. A New York Times investigation found that support from Trump administration officials played a crucial role.

Interviews with dozens of people in Romania, the United States and Britain, as well as a review of hundreds of pages of court documents and private messages, offer the fullest account yet of how the Tates rose from a fringe corner of the internet to become a cause célèbre on the right.

The brothers’ release from Romania was the culmination of a yearslong effort by Andrew Tate to forge alliances with Trump’s advisers and family members.
Wait a minute how did he get here with his record — Isn't Trump cracking down on hardened criminals and scrum entering the country? Then had did Tate make it here with open arms!
Tate also nurtured relationships with Donald Trump jnr and his younger brother Barron Trump, who recognised the role that young male voters could play in their father’s return to power.

Barron, now 19, admired Andrew, and spoke to him over Zoom last year, according to Justin Waller, a mutual friend who was on the call. During the call, they discussed their shared belief that the Romanian criminal case was an effort to silence the Tates, he said.

After Trump’s re-election, some of the Tates’ supporters ascended into the new administration. One of them, diplomatic envoy Richard Grenell, twice discussed their case with Romanian officials, the New York Times found.

A new report from The New York Times reveals how the Trump Administration and members of the president’s family may have been involved in a larger movement in conservative circles to support Andrew and Tristan Tate, right-wing influencers charged with rape, human trafficking and other crimes. Investigative reporter Megan Twohey, who helped break the story, joins Geoff Bennett to discuss.

 Geoff Bennett:

Now a new investigation into the political maneuvers that led to the release of Andrew and Tristan Tate, right-wing influencers charged with rape, human trafficking and other crimes.

The Tates, who are major players with big social media followings in the so-called manosphere, are facing criminal investigations in Romania and criminal charges in the U.K. for alleged sex crimes. The brothers had been barred from leaving Romania for years as prosecutors built their case. But, in February, the Romanian government suddenly lifted the travel ban and allowed the two to board a plane to Florida, which they announced in this video recorded on the plane.

Both men have denied the criminal allegations. A new report from The New York Times reveals how the Trump administration and some members of the president's family may have been involved in a larger movement in conservative circles to support the Tates.

For more, we're joined now by New York Times investigative reporter Megan Twohey, who helped break the story.

Thanks for being with us.

Megan Twohey:

So, Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan to a lesser extent are two of the most influential figures in the so-called manosphere world.

They — Andrew's a former kickboxer, who has built a huge, massive online audience by preaching brazen masculinity and chauvinism to a young male audience. He and his brother also ran a porn business for about 10 years, bragging about how they lured and steered women into making sexual content for paying customers online, and with them taking a lot of the profit.

And they have also sold courses to young men on how to make money and exploit women.
And remember they are friends with the Trump's!
 Geoff Bennett:

What did your reporting find about the involvement of Donald Trump Jr. and Barron Trump specifically?

Megan Twohey:

Yes.

So, the — so, Andrew Tate was very sort of strategic and shrewd in cultivating these alliances with people on the American right, including in the Trump family. And so his relationship with Don Jr. stretches back to 2017, when Andrew had posted a positive tweet about his father and Don Jr. had liked it.

And, anyway, soon, they were hanging out at Trump Tower here in New York. And that stretched up through him coming under investigation and being placed on house arrest in Romania. Don Jr. was one of the people who posted online supporting in defense of the Tates and critical of the Romanian investigation.

And then we found that, by 2024, Barron Trump, the youngest son, was also a fan of Andrew and that they actually spoke by Zoom last year with a mutual friend, who told me that Barron is a big fan of the Tates and that, on this call, they had actually discussed the Romanian case and how they thought it was just an effort to silence the Tates, a politically motivated criminal investigation.
Tate is toxic!
 Megan Twohey:

Within hours of the travel bans being lifted, the brothers were on a private plane to Florida. And their arrival was, I think, a little bit bumpier than they had expected.

While on the one hand, they have garnered a lot of support from certain media and other conservative figures and even members of the Trump family here in the United States, there were also a lot of conservatives, other conservatives, more traditional conservatives who were outraged that they had come back to the United States, Megyn Kelly, Ben Shapiro.

The Republican Governor Ron DeSantis said that they weren't welcome in his state. And the Florida attorney general actually launched an investigation of them there.
It seems like this is a one big sex-ring that Trump and his family is involved with!

Iranian judicial authorities have seized a foreign oil tanker and detained its 18 crew members in the Sea of Oman.

Reports in Iranian media said the ship seized on December 12 was carrying some 6 million liters of smuggled fuel.

Citing provincial judiciary officials in southern Hormozgan Province, Tasnim News Agency said the tanker was impounded after it was intercepted and inspected off the port city of Jask in Iranian-controlled waters.

"In addition to the organized transportation of smuggled fuel, the tanker ignored the order to stop and attempted to escape," Mojtaba Ghahremani, head of provincial judiciary in Hormozgan, was quoted as saying by Tasnim.
Hmm... does any this sound familiar?

The article ends with...
The latest confiscation by Iran follows the United States's seizure of a Tehran-linked tanker off the coast of Venezuela this week.

The vessel was under US Treasury Department sanctions since 2022 for allegedly helping smuggle Iranian oil as part of a network led by Ukrainian national Viktor Artemov.

Saturday 9: First Christmas

Saturday 9: First Christmas (2024)
On Saturdays I take a break from the heavy stuff and have some fun…

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) The song mentions snowmen and snow on a windowpane. Has it snowed near you yet?
Yes, it has but the first measurable storm is tomorrow… 2 -3 inches

2) Diane Keaton sings that hearing "I'll Be Home for Christmas" makes her miss someone she loved who won't be coming home at all. Is there a Christmas song that reminds you of a loved one?
 No, there isn’t.

3) After the song was first released for Christmas 2024, Diane said she appreciated how many people posted on her Instagram, sharing their "First Christmas journeys," explaining how they navigated the first holiday season without a special someone. What have you recently posted on social media (other than this blog post)?
On Facebook it was  Mother Goose and Grimm

4) Diane appeared in the Broadway musical Hair and sang in movies like Annie Hall and The First Wives Club. Still she didn't consider herself "much of a singer." How about you? What's something you do, even though you're not completely comfortable doing it?
Well right now at my age, going to the doctors.

5) This was Diane's first and, sadly, her only record. She was nervous doing it, but it helped that the lyrics was written by her friend, Carole Bayer Sager, and that both Carole and her writing partner, Jonas Myrin, were with Diane in the studio. Tell us about a friend who came through for you.
I can’t. I can tell you about friends who came through for me, but to single out one would be unfair for the others. I am at a stage in life where we depend more and more on friends to help, I have been taking a friend to her weekly doctor’s appointment down in New Haven.

6) After her 75th birthday, Diane said she was excited that new ventures were coming her way and she found herself saying "yes" more often. In addition to recording this week's song, she accepted an unexpected offer from Look Optic to design eyewear. Have you recently tried something you've never done before? OR What's something you'd like to try?
Right now, I just set my sights on making it to tomorrow,

Now for some questions about the holiday season ...

7) Do you display the holiday cards you receive?
First you have to receive cards…

8) This is a big time of hear for necklaces, hats and headbands decorated with jingle bells. Will you be wearing any bells this season?
No bells. I used to have a set of bell earrings but now I just have “a” bell earring.

9) The website Morning Save included these three items on their list of this season's popular gifts. Would you rather receive: a. cup holder/phone mount for your car; b. sherpa lined clog slippers; c. set of three stainless paring knives with rosemary green plastic handles?
A. I don’t use my phone in the car except for hands-free operation.
B. Sherpa lined clog slippers, now you’re talking!
C. Sounds nice but I have several sets of them already.

Sad, I just found out that Diane Keaton passed away this October.

Me, Me, Me!

Have you noticed that Trump likes to brand everything with his name!

Summary
  • Suit says using Trump's image breaches federal law
  • Critics liken redesign to Trump's corporate branding
  • Pass usually features nature image from annual photo contest
An environmental group filed suit on Wednesday seeking to prevent the U.S. Interior Department from placing an image of President Donald Trump's face on annual entrance passes for national parks and federal recreational areas that go on sale next year.

Federal law requires the $80-a-year "America the Beautiful Pass" to bear the winning image from an annual photo contest depicting scenery or wildlife in a national park or forest, according to the Center for Biological Diversity's 16-page complaint.

The winning photo from the latest contest in June, sponsored by the National Parks Foundation, was a picture of Glacier National Park in Montana.

But the Interior Department chose instead to scrap that photo and unlawfully replace it with a close-up of Trump, wearing his trademark blue coat, red tie and scowling expression, next to a likeness of George Washington, the lawsuit said.

Such a move undertaken without congressional approval violates the 2004 Federal Lands Recreational Enhancement Act, it said.
Me, me, me, everything has to be about him!

But wait, there's more!!!!!

The National Park Service will offer free admission to U.S. residents on President Donald Trump’s birthday next year — which also happens to be Flag Day — but is eliminating the benefit for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth.

The new list of free admission days for Americans is the latest example of the Trump administration downplaying America’s civil rights history while also promoting the president’s image, name and legacy.

Last year, the list of free days included Martin Luther King Jr Day and Juneteenth — which is June 19 — but not June 14, Trump’s birthday.

The new free-admission policy takes effect Jan. 1 and was one of several changes announced by the Park Service late last month, including higher admission fees for international visitors.
Talk about narcissism!

It’s almost as if he treats public institutions and national symbols like extensions of his private empire, which aligns with his history in business, where branding literally was the product.

But wait there is even more! Trump wants his face on a $1 coin... even though a federal law against a living president being on currency!

The Treasury Department said it is working on a $1 coin featuring President Trump's image to mark the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence next year, although the design isn't final.

A U.S. Treasury official on Friday shared a preliminary design of the coin featuring Mr. Trump.

"No fake news here. These first drafts honoring America's 250th Birthday and @POTUS are real," U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach wrote in a social media post on Friday, which included drawings of the coin. "Looking forward to sharing more soon, once the obstructionist shutdown of the United States government is over."

[...]

While federal law prohibits the U.S. Treasury from issuing currency with the image of either a living former or current president, there may be more leeway with commemorative coins produced by the U.S. Mint. Currency is produced by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, while commemorative coins are produced by the U.S. Mint, which is part of the Treasury Department.

Regulations also state there must be a two-year period after the death of a former or current president before issuing currency with their likeness. Historically, the restriction is to avoid the appearance of a monarchy, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.
Hey! When has the law stopped Trump?

K don't think Trump has much wiggle room to say it is only a commemorative coin, isn't true, it is legal tender just like Bicentennial quarter.

So while I was researching the links to the article on ChatGPT  it asked, " If you want, I can make a tongue-in-cheek “Trump Ballroom Wishlist” of what might end up in there—it could be pretty entertaining." I said go to it! Here is ChatGPT Trump's ballroom wishlist.

Of all the work places that ignore the Americans with Disabilities Act you would think that an organizations devoted to healthcare would care about their disabled employees?
HHS spokesman denies policy change will result in more hardships for disabled employees
Roll Call
By Ariel Cohen
December 10, 2025

Employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say a Trump administration policy change is making it nearly impossible for agency staff with disabilities to access telework as a reasonable accommodation.

Political appointees at the agency are repealing previously approved reasonable accommodation requests as the agency implements a new Health and Human Services policy for those with disabilities, according to documents and internal communications obtained by CQ Roll Call.

Legal experts who reviewed the policy change say it may circumvent requirements that federal employers provide a reasonable accommodation to employees with a disability unless it causes an “undue hardship” on the agency.

[...]

The policy would strip CDC supervisors of the ability to approve telework reasonable accommodation requests, thereby creating a backlog.
Yeah... Trump & Company really care about others! It seems like they are a bunch of self-centered twerps!

Have We Seen This Before?

[Editorial]

Are we on the verge of invading Venezuela?

If so, it would not be the first time we inserted ourselves into the affairs of Central and South America. You might think of the United Fruit Company and the “banana republics.” You might think of Teddy Roosevelt and the Marines in Nicaragua, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.

And you might think even farther back to the Monroe Doctrine—remember that from your history classes? The policy that declared any attempt by European powers to influence or control countries in North or South America would be viewed as a hostile act against the United States.

Take a look at the long-term results of those actions: Cuba, decades of political unrest, guerrilla movements that morphed into drug cartels—much of it can be traced back to those presidents’ decisions.

Look back, to the period after World War I, when the victors divided up the Middle East—and consider where we are today.

When we couldn’t get oil from Iran, we helped engineer a revolution and installed the Shah. And now?

What will any new intervention mean for future generations? Will our great-grandchildren still be living with the consequences?

Mini-Post: What Planet Do They Live On?

Tell me... people are being squeezed with food, rent, gas, electricity... and now their healthcare.

Did you see the Republicans answer to healthcare?

Senate Republicans want to send money directly to Americans rather than extending enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies that have lowered health insurance costs for millions of Americans.

Republican Sens. Mike Crapo and Bill Cassidy on Dec. 8 unveiled a bill that would deposit $1,000 to $1,500 into health savings accounts for eligible consumers. This money would be in lieu of extending COVID-19-era enhanced tax credits that sharply reduced health premiums under the Affordable Care Act, often called "Obamacare."
Okay Republicans I have a question for you. For a family that is having a hard time just to put food on the table and are living from paycheck to paycheck just how far is that $1,500 will go?
Health savings accounts, which are paired with high-deductible health insurance plans, allow consumers to save part of their paycheck before taxes. The money can be spent on eligible expenses such as doctor or hospital bills or prescription drugs. Consumers can roll over health savings account balances from year to year, invest the money and spend tax-free gains on eligible expenses.
A child with a broken leg would wipe that out in seconds... the bill will be in the thousands of dollars! On what planet do the Republicans live on that they even think that this would work?

Anything to make their billionaire friends more money!

I Am Not A Fan But…

I am not a fan of the Human Rights Campaign but once in a whiel they do some good stuff. Like now this report:
by Brandon Wolf • December 4, 2025

As Congress works on necessary FY26 government funding legislation that must be passed by January 30, 2026, the Human Rights Campaign is out with a new report outlining the latest wave of anti-LGBTQ+ riders proposed by MAGA Republicans and their cruel, multi-pronged effort to weaponize appropriations bills, the National Defense Authorization Act, the rescissions process, and executive actions against LGBTQ+ people. The latest wave of proposed anti-LGBTQ+ riders looks even more out of touch just weeks after voters rejected anti-trans scapegoating at the ballot box and sent a clear message: leaders should tackle the issues keeping people up at night or face political defeat.

[…]

In all, more than 50 anti-LGBTQ+ riders have been attached to 12 must-pass FY26 federal appropriations bills at some point in the appropriations process this year.  The anti-LGBTQ+ proposals include efforts to restrict access to medically necessary health care, undermine nondiscrimination protections, decimate programs that support a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce, restrict drag performances, and ban pride flags from being flown.
They knew these provisions wouldn’t pass on their own, so they tried to bury them in ‘must-pass’ bills like the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill,’ where they attempted to strip Medicaid and CHIP coverage for gender-affirming care. It was included in the House version but was removed in the Senate.
This onslaught of anti-LGBTQ+ provisions looks even more out of touch just weeks after the American people delivered an overwhelming repudiation of anti-LGBTQ+ campaigns across the country. Candidates like Virginia’s Winsome Earle-Sears who attempted to deflect from the devastation of the failing Trump economy by scapegoating transgender people were crushed at the ballot box. On election night, HRC released a memo detailing the impending failure of anti-trans ad campaigns and overwhelming American support for equality.
Trump and Company do not care about what the voters think, they are playing to their MAGA base, the HRC article ends with,
Nearly two-in-three Americans support federal nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ+ people, including 58% of independents and 42% of Republicans. The vast majority of Americans — nearly 7 in 10 — think that politicians are not informed enough about health care for transgender youth to create fair policies; and nearly half think that politicians should not be focused on transgender issues at all. And 70% of Americans say they are concerned that politicians are attacking gay and transgender youth to divide us, maintain their political power and control, and score political points. Nevertheless, MAGA Republicans in Congress are ignoring American fury over soaring prices and a collapsing economy and doubling down on their out-of-touch Anti-LGBTQ+ crusade.
And remember that everytime we came up a ballot intiative, we won!

Bringing Back Jim Crow

Hey, so you don’t think that the Trump administration is racist? Well Trump & Company just did away with 50 year old civil rights policies!
Trump officials say the requirement to consider racial impacts was itself a form of discrimination.
Politico
By Alex Guillén and Hassan Ali Kanu
12/09/2025

The Justice Department on Tuesday moved to end long-standing civil rights policies that prohibit local governments and organizations that receive federal funding from maintaining policies that disproportionately harm people of color.

Repealing the government’s 50-year-old “disparate impact” standards will make it harder to challenge potential bias in housing, criminal law, employment, environmental regulations and other policy areas.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of “race, color, or national origin.” The Justice Department and the courts have historically interpreted the law as a ban on intentional discrimination as well as policies that, in practice, have a “disparate impact” on one group of people.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order in April that directed agencies to eliminate disparate-impact liability wherever possible.
Let’s see… he gutted the EPA, OSHA, they rolled back our protection in prisons, and now he is gutting the civil rights laws!
“The Trump administration cannot claim to value equality by undermining the very laws that keep people protected from discrimination,” said Amalea Smirniotopoulos, NAACP-LDF senior policy counsel. “Removing the Department of Justice’s regulations prohibiting unfair discriminatory policies takes away critical safeguards against the most insidious forms of exclusion” in policing, the court system, public jobs, and access to government services.

Harmeet Dhillon, DOJ’s civil rights chief, highlighted that the rule change will lead to fewer civil rights lawsuits — cases she characterized as frequently overreaching.

“The prior ‘disparate impact’ regulations encouraged people to file lawsuits challenging racially neutral policies, without evidence of intentional discrimination,” Dhillon said in a statement. “Our rejection of this theory will restore true equality under the law by requiring proof of actual discrimination, rather than enforcing race- or sex-based quotas or assumptions.”
Translated from Trump-speak… our billionaire friends can save millions from lawsuits!

So what exactly are we talking about? The Trump administration wants to make it legal for businesses to discriminate not through words or explicit actions, but through policies.
DOJ began requiring the recipients of federal funding to consider disparate impacts — for example, whether a new industrial facility would disproportionately harm a nearby majority Black community — in 1973.

The regulations also undergirded investigations of organizations, such as housing providers and police departments, accused of engaging in a “pattern or practice” of discrimination. Such investigations often lead to settlements or agreements requiring efforts to reverse the discriminatory practices.
Policies like “Stop and Frisk,” which courts have ruled to be discriminatory, have overwhelmingly targeted minorities.

Now, the Trump administration’s rule changes are making it even harder for people to bring disparate impact discrimination claims. This affects access to jobs as well. For example, some employers require a valid passport or driver’s license, yet many trans people cannot obtain IDs that reflect their true gender. If an employer hires only people whose gender presentation matches the gender marker on their ID, that can result in discrimination — even when it’s framed as a “neutral” requirement.

Slowly, the Trump administration has been chipping away at civil rights protections while normalizing racist practices — such as favoring immigration from predominantly white countries and restricting immigration from what Trump referred to as “shithole countries,” “hellholes,” and “filthy” nations.

During the campaign he also promoted harmful stereotypes, at one point blaming Haitians for eating pets. He has repeatedly targeted Somali immigrants as well, claiming they “contribute nothing,” that their home country “stinks,” and suggesting they are “completely taking over” parts of Minnesota.

There is no doubt that Trump has echoed some of the racist attitudes long associated with his father. In many ways, it appears to be a case of like father, like son.

So You Say That There Is No Difference?

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the U.S. has seized an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela amid mounting tensions with the government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

It’s the Trump administration’s latest push to increase pressure on Maduro, who has been charged with narcoterrorism in the U.S.

The seizure was led by the U.S. Coast Guard and supported by the Navy, according to a U.S. official who was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity.
You know there is a name for this... piracy! So the U.S. has now stooped to the level of Iran or the Barbary pirates!

Update: 7:45PM

The administration is now saying that they had a warrant for the tanker. Reuter's reported...
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi posted on X that the FBI, Homeland Security and Coast Guard, along with support from the U.S. military, carried out a seizure warrant for a crude oil tanker used to transport sanctioned oil from Venezuela and Iran.
Politico reports,
The White House did not provide additional details about the vessel. But a person familiar with the matter, granted anonymity to discuss the sensitive seizure, said the ship was en route to Cuba, where the state firm Cubametales was planning to sell it to Asian energy brokers.

On the road in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, President Donald Trump tried to emphasize his focus on combating inflation, yet the issue that has damaged his popularity couldn’t quite command his full attention.

The president told the crowd gathered at a casino and resort in Mount Pocono that inflation was no longer a problem and that Democrats had used the term “affordability” as a “hoax” to hurt his reputation. But his remarks weaved wildly to include grievances he first raised behind closed doors in his first term in 2018 — and later denied saying — asking why the U.S. doesn’t have more immigrants from Scandinavia.

“Why is it we only take people from s—-hole countries, right?” Trump said onstage. “Why can’t we have some people from Norway, Sweden, just a few?”
Translated from Trumpspeak: "We don't want people from Black and Brown counties, only from white countries like  Norway and, Sweden."
Trump said he objected to taking immigrants from “hellholes like Afghanistan, Haiti, Somalia and many other countries.” He added for emphasis that those places “are a disaster, right? Filthy, dirty, disgusting, ridden with crime.”
The people want to know about about inflation, not his racist rant!

President Donald Trump admitted Tuesday that he used the slur “shithole countries” to disparage Haiti and African nations during a 2018 meeting with lawmakers, bragging about a comment that sparked global outrage during his first term.

Back then, Trump had denied making the contemptuous statement during a closed-door meeting, but on Tuesday, he showed little compunction reliving it during a rally in Pennsylvania. He went on to further disparage Somalia as “filthy, dirty, disgusting, ridden with crime.”

Trump was boasting in his speech that he had last week “announced a permanent pause on Third World migration, including from hellholes like Afghanistan, Haiti, Somalia and many other countries,” when someone in the crowd yelled out the 2018 remark.
For Trump everything boils down to race. His tirades on immigration... immigration from White countries is okay but not from Third World countries (i.e. from Black and Brown countries,)
“We had a meeting and I said, ‘Why is it we only take people from shithole countries,’ right? ‘Why can’t we have some people from Norway, Sweden?’” Trump told rallygoers.

“But we always take people from Somalia,” he continued. “Places that are a disaster. Filthy, dirty, disgusting, ridden with crime.”
Simply put... Trump is a bigot and his loyal followers are also bigots. Congress is not finally also questioning his policies,
Crackdown on applications from countries also under travel restrictions comes after shooting of two national guards

Immigration groups and lawmakers are sharply criticizing Donald Trump’s latest move to halt immigration applications from 19 countries already under US travel restrictions, a decision that comes amid reports that naturalization ceremonies for people on the travel ban list are also being canceled.

On Tuesday US Citizenship and Immigration Services posted a policy memo that announced an immediate “adjudicative hold” on all asylum applications “regardless of the alien’s country of nationality”, as well as a review of individuals from “high-risk countries” who entered the US following Joe Biden’s inauguration in 2021.

The 19 countries include Afghanistan, Burma, Burundi, Chad, Cuba, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Laos, Libya, Republic of the Congo, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Turkmenistan, Venezuela, and Yemen – all of which have either partial or full travel restrictions.

[...]

In a statement to the Guardian, Human Rights Watch’s US director, Tanya Greene, said: “Nothing meaningfully links these 19 countries except the administration’s opportunistic stigmatization and exclusion of people based on where they were born. This sweeping change is not about safety; it is about scapegoating entire nationalities for the actions of one individual. This policy will tear families apart, endanger people fleeing persecution and further damage US credibility on human rights.”

Similarly, the National Immigrant Justice Center said: “The Trump administration is using the tragic shooting of two national guard members to scapegoat and roll out yet another ban on Black and brown migrants. Where there is grief and heartbreak, the Trump administration sees opportunity – ie, the opportunity to unveil more racist and anti-immigrant policies.
Like father, like son.

When you see refugees you don't think about it happening here, but it is... through out history people have fled oppression. The Bible is full of tails about people being forced to leave their place of birth.

They first came to Illinois in January to visit and help him deal with the grief of his late husband’s death. After helping around the house and farm for a few months, Wuersch asked Slayton to move in permanently.

In Tennessee, many laws restrict LGBTQ+ identity and gender expression. It was ranked among the lowest-rated states on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s annual State Equality Index report, which reviews legislation impacting the LGBTQ+ community.

But in addition to anti-trans legislation, the broader debate around transgender identity has become more hostile, creating a widespread sense of fear among many trans people.

Slayton said they weren’t welcomed at gendered support groups for victims of sexual violence, they were turned away from food pantries operated by Christian churches and they were often harassed in stores or restaurants they frequented in Nashville.

“There were a lot of times that I just didn’t feel safe,” they said. “So I kind of quit going.”
But this isn't unique to Tennessee...

Up to an estimated $879 million in LGBTQ+ household and business income has left Missouri in recent years, as queer residents flee a hostile political environment, according to a recent analysis by the Movement Advancement Project (MAP).

The state lawmakers responsible for creating this financial drain were warned, the Missouri Independent reports.

For years, business organizations, advocacy groups, and individuals cautioned officials pushing discriminatory laws that the economic fallout would be one deleterious result.

Local officials and chambers of commerce raised red flags about impacts on workforce recruitment, employee retention, and the ability to lure businesses to the state.

“When people feel unwelcome or uncertain about their future in a community, they often take their skills and their families elsewhere,” Tracey DeMarea, executive director of the Mid-America LGBT Chamber of Commerce, told The Independent. “That loss affects our workforce, our businesses, and our shared sense of community.”
Think beyond the bigotry against the LGBTQ+, think what it says about a state who doesn't care about all the people in the state. Think beyond to the fact that the state is actually creating animosity toward its citizens.

Lizette Trujillo climbs into a taxi two months after she and her family moved abroad with two items in her purse: her U.S. passport and a bottle of Mexican hot sauce.

The latter, a relic of her heritage as the daughter of immigrants, is scarce at the local restaurants in her new home more than 5,000 miles away from the one-story Tucson, Ariz., home she purchased in 2023, not knowing her family would be fleeing the U.S. out of fear for the health and safety of her trans son less than two years later.

Trujillo and her family are not the only Americans who have left the U.S. amid mounting restrictions on transgender rights. Rainbow Railroad, a global nonprofit that helps LGBTQ+ people escape state-sponsored violence, has received a record-high number of requests for help from U.S. citizens since Trump’s reelection, according to Latoya Nugent, head of engagement at the organization. “That trend has continued,” she says. “The U.S. continues to be the number one country where people are requesting help from,” as of Oct. 6. Around two-thirds of the requests the group has received are from people who are transgender.
Like some third world country people are flee their homes because of oppression.
Many trans people are moving within the country rather than seeking to leave the U.S. altogether. Nearly half of the transgender adults in the U.S. have relocated or are planning to relocate to another state that they believe to be more affirming to gender-diverse individuals, according to a May report by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law.

As bans and restrictions have increased, states such as Oregon, Vermont, Connecticut, and Maryland have enacted shield laws to protect patients who cross state lines seeking gender-affirming care—and the health care professionals that provide it—from prosecution in other states. Local leaders are taking protective measures as well. Boston and California’s Long Beach and West Hollywood have all enacted resolutions or ordinances declaring themselves sanctuary cities for transgender people or the broader LGBTQ+ community.
Fleeing to safe havens!

The University of Illinois student newspaper ends with...
“What will make a difference and what will impact people is knowing that they have a community that actually cares about them,” Slayton said.

“It was something that was always on after dinner, and my parents and I would shout out the answers if we knew them,” she told Datebook. “It was part of life for as long as I can remember.”

While she had considered competing for a number of years, she finally applied after trans competitor Amy Schneider made history by becoming its first out trans competitor in 2021.

Schneider went on an unprecedented 40-game winning streak, taking home $1,382,800 (more than £1 million at the time) in the process, making her history the first woman to win more than $1 million on the show.
I met Ms. Schneider back a couple of years ago at Scared Heart University when she was invited to give a talk there, I go invited by the Public Safety & Government Affairs director, who is on a committee with me.

Alberta’s Bill 26, which restricts gender-affirming treatments, has provoked strong opposition from the province’s clinicians. Though officials have presented the law as a means of protecting children during a vulnerable time, many clinicians see it as an intrusion into their practice and a rejection of internationally recognized standards of care.

Alberta’s Bill 26 “will enable government to implement policies to preserve choice for minors identifying as transgender while continuing to refocus the healthcare system,” according to the provincial government. It aims to support children in preserving their fertility until they are old enough to make decisions with possibly life-changing consequences, Justice Minister Mickey Amery said in a statement.

Under the bill, Alberta Health Services will transition to an acute care service delivery provider. The bill also enables provincial health agencies to establish a process for resolving patient concerns.
Gee... I know how to "resolving patient concerns" give them the healthcare that they need! Not what politician say.
Critics warn move could have devastating impact on lives and wellbeing of those affected

New Zealand has announced it is banning new prescriptions of puberty-blocking drugs for young transgender people, in a move that critics warned could worsen the mental health of those affected.

The step comes amid growing global debate about the number of adolescents seeking to change gender, dividing those concerned about hastiness in prescribing such medications and those worried about access to remedies they deem lifesaving.

The health minister, Simeon Brown, said doctors would no longer be able to prescribe gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogues for gender dysphoria or incongruence to those seeking treatment for the conditions and not already on the drugs.

The decision resulted from a health ministry finding of a lack of “high-quality evidence that demonstrates the benefits or risks”, Brown added in a statement.
That is total conservative BS!!! Puberty blockers have been around since 1980! And they are used to... well block puberty! The conservatives make it sound like it has never been used to block puberty, all is they is lie!

$$ All Hail The Mighty Dollar $$

Trump bends over backward for anyone who wants to make a buck... he cut EPA standards, he cut back on OSHA regulations, anything to make a buck off of our backs. The latest roll back...

Senator  Kevin Cramer writes,
December 04, 2025

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) formally repealed Biden-era minimum staffing requirements for long-term care facilities (LTC), which affected nearly 1.2 million residents across the nation. The rule exacerbated workforce shortages and significantly harmed access to care in rural communities. Reversal of the mandates demonstrates a commitment to “practical, sustainable approaches to improving nursing home care, and allows for further opportunity for engagement with community and Tribal stakeholders,” according to HHS.

The 2024 rule required applicable nursing homes to provide residents with a minimum total of 3.48 hours of nursing care per day, including at least 0.55 hours from a registered nurse per resident per day, and 2.45 hours from a nurse aide per resident per day. It mandated each facility have a registered nurse onsite 24/7. HHS said these measures disproportionately burdened rural and underserved communities already grappling with critical health care workforce shortages.

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) raised concerns over the harmful impact of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) staffing ratio for rural communities and North Dakota families. He led multiple efforts, including bipartisan legislation, to push back against the rule, culminating in the passage of the Working Families Tax Cut Act which included a 10-year moratorium on enforcement of the staffing mandate.
Translated from Republican speak... it is costing the nursing home too much!

In a statement, Stacey Hughes, AHA executive vice president, said, "The AHA strongly believes that a skilled, caring workforce is integral to delivery of high quality, safe care. Yet, the process of safely staffing any health care facility is about much more than achieving an arbitrary number set by regulation. It requires clinical judgment and flexibility to account for patient needs, facility characteristics and the expertise and experience of the care team. CMS’ one-size-fits-all minimum staffing rule for nursing homes creates more problems than it solves and could jeopardize access to all types of care across the continuum, especially in rural and underserved communities that may not have the workforce levels to support these requirements.
Surprise, surprise! They are in favor of the cuts. And not surprisingly the nurses don't like it. Nurse writes...
Nursing and consumer advocates, however, have expressed deep concern that rescinding federal minimum staffing standards could weaken protections for residents and increase workloads for nursing staff. Advocacy groups warn that without a clear national floor, some facilities may prioritize cost savings over staffing adequacy, potentially worsening burnout, turnover, and resident outcomes unless states and individual operators adopt strong standards of their own.
This is not surprising coming from the Trump administration, this couple with nursing schools not being covered under the profession loans. Anything for business t make a buck! Screw the people!

New York City is on track to become a haven for transgender residents. Zohran Mamdani, the newly elected NYC mayor, spoke about his commitment to the transgender community. The young Democrat promised to stand firmly with transgender people and make the city fully pro-trans.

Sharing a message about the future of transgender rights, he said the city will be a safe place for transgender youth. Even during his mayoral campaign, Mamdani pledged $57 million for medical centers providing gender-affirming care, and an additional $8 million to develop new and expanded resources. He said that he would turn NYC into a “LGBTQIA+ sanctuary city.”

A viral clip shows Zohran Mamdani during an interview being congratulated on his election as NYC mayor. The interviewer said, "Zaron! Congratulations on starting your transition! Thank you very much! What would you like to say to trans kids out there who might be starting their transition?"

Mamdani smiled and replied, "Well, while these may be different transitions, we're going to make this a city that doesn't just protect trans kids, but also celebrates and cherishes them."
Now from the other side of the aisle.
Memo says the policy shift, which advocates call ‘reckless’, was designed to align with one of Trump’s anti-trans orders
The Guardian
By Sam Levin in Los Angeles
Fri 5 Dec 2025

The US Department of Justice has moved to eliminate rules protecting LGBTQ+ people from sexual abuse in prisons, a shift advocates say is “reckless and dangerous” and will lead to increased assaults behind bars.

A justice department memo issued on Tuesday said “effective immediately”, prisons and jails will no longer be held responsible for violations of standards meant to shield LGBTQ+ people from harassment, abuse and rape. It also directed inspectors to stop auditing facilities for compliance with those protections. The justice department is in the process of seeking formal updates to the rules, the memo said.

The directive relates to regulations under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (Prea), a longstanding federal law which says incarcerated people should be screened for their risk of facing sexual assault when officials place them in housing and that assessments must consider LGBTQ+ status.

Prea, passed unanimously by Congress in 2003, includes standards aimed at addressing the high levels of violence that transgender, gender-nonconforming and queer people face in jails and prisons across the US. Prea applies to all correctional facilities.
When you say that you are anti-DEI what does it mean? Have you stopped for a moment and thought that through? What they are really saying is that they want to discriminate against people!

So please, please tell me how there is not difference between the parties?

Two Things Popped Out

When I read this headline two things popped in my my mine... The first was the Kennedy Center is not in the same league as Kimmel, but my second thought was maybe that is what is trying to do, bring the Kennedy Center down to the level of a late-night variety show?

Donald Trump presented this year’s Kennedy Center honorees with their medals in an Oval Office ceremony on Saturday, but he also made some predictions of how the ceremony will do in the ratings and how he will do in hosting the event.

Namely, Trump said he would do better than Jimmy Kimmel, the late night host who has emceed multiple Oscar broadcasts.

“We have never had a president hosting the awards before. This is the first,” Trump told reporters.

“I’m sure they’ll give me great reviews, right? You know, they’ll say he was horrible. He was terrible. It was a horrible situation. No, we’ll do fine,” Trump said.
So stay tune for the exciting TV Ratings... will Trump beat Kimmel in the rating war? Will Trump tank the awards? Tune back Wednesday to see if Trump beat Kimmel (Hint: In the past the Kennedy Center awards viewership was in 2024 broadcast drew 4.1 million viewers, while the Jimmy Kimmel show only brings in an averages approximately 1.6 to 1.8 million nightly viewers.)

So folks.... boycott the Kennedy Center awards Tuesday night,,, let's have Kimmel get more viewers will that rally piss-off Trump

How Petty!

This administration is so petty, they would gleefully pour salt on a wound and their hatred of anything trans is even worst! You know that President Biden had a trans person as the head of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service, well get a load at the petty thing that the Trump administration did to her!

As you walk down a particular hallway on the seventh floor of the Humphrey Building in Washington, D.C., you'll find a line of photographic portraits of all the people from years past who have led the Public Health Corps at the federal Department of Health and Human Services.

Only one of those portraits is of a transgender person: Adm. Rachel Levine, who served for four years as President Biden's assistant secretary for health. She was the first transgender person to win Senate confirmation, and her portrait has been displayed in the hallway since soon after she was confirmed in 2021. The role is a four-star admiral position in charge of the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service.
But what did the narrow-minded Trump administration do?
Levine's official portrait was recently altered, a spokesperson for HHS confirmed to NPR. A digital photograph of the portrait in the hallway obtained by NPR shows that Levine's previous name is now typed below the portrait, under the glass of the frame.
They "dead-named" her! Like little bullies on a playground... they dead maned her. I'm surprised that they did paint a mustache on her, that is the infantile behavior that is expected from Trump's administration. Meanwhile, Admiral Levine takes the high ground!
Levine told NPR that it was an honor to serve the American people as the assistant secretary for health "and I'm not going to comment on this type of petty action."
While they crawl in the slop and mud...
NPR asked HHS who made the change and why. In response, HHS spokesperson Andrew Nixon wrote: "Our priority is ensuring that the information presented internally and externally by HHS reflects gold standard science. We remain committed to reversing harmful policies enacted by Levine and ensuring that biological reality guides our approach to public health."
They had to stick her in the back and twist the knife.

The Advocate put it this way,
Adrian Shanker, who served as Levine’s deputy and directed the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health Policy, said the move reflects a troubling misuse of institutional authority.

“During her entire time as assistant secretary for health and admiral of the United States Public Health Service, Admiral Levine was a dedicated public health servant,” Shanker told The Advocate. “She was working to end the HIV epidemic, respond to syphilis surges, improve mental health and nutrition, and really work for the health and well-being of all Americans. And it seems like what the folks that are there now are doing are small acts of pettiness and bigotry. It’s not only unfair to Admiral Levine, but it’s unfair to the American people that this is the level of seriousness of the current political appointees at HHS.”
This is what we expect from the current administration.
He added that the portrait alteration fits into the broader pattern of the administration seeking to erase transgender people from public life. “It does seem like they’re obsessed with trans people and with removing not only their legal rights and their access to health care, but even people’s basic existence,” he said.
