The Lie: From Hitler to Trump.

[Editorial]

All through history, The Lie has been there — demonizing the opposition. Back in the Roman Empire, Octavian (later Augustus) waged a propaganda war against Mark Antony, portraying him as a traitor enslaved by Cleopatra.

The modern lie can be traced back to Hitler, through Stalin to Trump.

"The Lie" is used to erode trust and rally their base of support. Authoritarian regimes, use the lie as a method of control: not just lying, but forcing everyone to participate in the lie. In the novel 1984 believing in the truth was a criminal offense.

Yuri Bezmenov, a former KGB informant and Soviet defector said,
We know they are lying,
they know they are lying,
they know we know they are lying,
we know they know we know they are lying,
but they are still lying
We know Trump is lying, we knew that they were not eating "dogs and cats" during the elections but the supporters ran with it. While everyone knew it was a lie, people were afraid of foreigners and locking up their pets. “The Lie” isn’t necessarily meant to be believed, but to signal loyalty and create an “us vs. them” dynamic. The point is no longer truth, but identity and dominance. It has because a test of loyalty to "The Donald."

Mass media has jumped on the ban wagon with podcasts and social media creating a was networks of woven lie. You could trust the mainstream media but that all has been bought out by "Billionaire!" NPR & PBS they have been decimated by the Republican budget cuts for speaking the truth. Now AI makes you question what you see and hear.

The "Art of the Lie" has been put on a pedestal to be worshiped, while the truth is being burned at the stake.

  2. Was it not Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn who made that famous observation about lying?

    1. I thought so to, but when I was googling it, they said it was believed to be Yuri Bezmenov who said it. That Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn wasn't the one who said it even through it is often credited to Solzhenitsyn.
