Mine-Post: Last Night

Last night I attended a function with a friend at the West Hartford town hall that was put on by the Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection (AKA The State Police)...
COMMUNITY CONVERSATION WITH THE HATE CRIMES INVESTIGATIVE UNIT

The number of hate crimes has been steadily rising in Connecticut in recent years. Please join DESPP Commissioner Ronnell A. Higgins, Chief State's Attorney Patrick J. Griffin, West Hartford Police Chief Vernon Riddick, and the members of the Hate Crimes Investigative Unit of the Connecticut State Police for a discussion about how the state and communities are responding.

Learn how hate crimes are identified, reported, and investigated -- and how you can play a role in preventing them.
It was around an hour long presentation but what struck me was that there were around a hundred people there to listen and learn. I thought, would a red state be holding this discussion?
