This Shouldn't Be Happening In America!

Where residents of a state have to flee it to get proper medical and now the states are “tracking down the criminals” who are the criminals? Us, the trans community!
Lisa Stanton could feel her heart racing, her body breaking out in sweat and her palms going numb as she sat this summer in the waiting room of a Colorado emergency urgent care clinic alongside her 12-year-old transgender daughter Maya, who was crying over pain in her ear.

Stanton and her husband, along with Maya and her twin brother, had just uprooted their whole lives from Texas and, in two cars packed with all their belongings, were headed to their new home in Colorado, where they knew no one.

As they’d climbed into the mountains, Maya’s ears and throat started to hurt. So, they went to the clinic. But being back in a medical setting – filling out an ordinary health form – Stanton found herself overwhelmed by fear and anxiety she knew was rooted in the experience her family was trying to outrun, even if the care she sought now for her child was far less controversial.
When I read this, I thought of refugees fleeing war torn countries, fleeing famine, or fleeing a natural disaster, but no they are fleeing states that are forcing them into second class status, where they are denied healthcare and all the rights other citizens have.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office considers gender-affirming surgical procedures and puberty-blocking drugs “child abuse,” he declared in a 2022 legal opinion. “‘Transing’ kids through surgery/drugs is abuse & I’ll do all I can to stop it,” Paxton posted that year on social media. The offices of Republicans Paxton and Gov. Greg Abbott did not respond to several CNN requests for comment for this story.

This flies in the face over every medical association guidelines and Supreme Court rulings.

The Republican states are going after their citizens who are being treated in others, in a move reminiscent of the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 that forced northern states to send back Blacks who escaped from slavery, now they are trying to force northern states to send medical records to beck to the anti-trans states.

More states are pushing to stop legally recognizing trans people in public life
Proposed bills would exclude transgender and nonbinary people from updating driver’s licenses, holding public office and accessing public restrooms.

States across the country are taking new steps to stop transgender adults and minors from being legally recognized in public life. Proposed legislation would prevent trans people from being able to update driver’s licenses, hold public office, use public restrooms, or take shelter from domestic violence unless they do so according to their sex assigned at birth.

If passed, these laws would require trans people to be misgendered in order to participate in day-to-day life — which increases the risk that they face violence and harassment, or are simply excluded from basic services, advocates say. Such laws are likely to be challenged in court; a route that has repeatedly halted anti-trans laws from going into effect.

Lawmakers in at least 10 states want to implement laws that redefine sex to exclude transgender and nonbinary people from accessing public services and to deny them equal legal protection. Arizona, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia, Wyoming are all considering these bills, alongside Indiana and Florida, which have brought forth uniquely far-reaching legislation.

[…]

However, the bills filed this month go beyond similar laws enacted last year by redefining sex based on reproductive capacity or “role,” and by attaching that definition to explicit restrictions on identity documents and civil rights that have not been proposed on this scale before.

LGBTQ+ advocates see sex redefinition bills as a clear indication of the ultimate goal of anti-trans legislation: to make it near-impossible for transgender people to safely participate in public life. These bills would also enable further restrictions on transgender rights in ways that could also harm LGBTQ+ and cisgender people, advocates say.

And it is not just the children fleeing states, adults are worrying about their jobs.

Fleeing hate: Trans teacher finds peace in Baltimore after receiving threats in Anne Arundel

When Billie Hoard first announced that she was transitioning, she knew it wouldn’t be easy. But she never thought she would receive online comments like: “That thing should be put down.”

[…]

Then, in May of 2022, someone sent an image of her in her classroom to Libs of TikTok, a far-right and anti-LGBTQ social media account. Hoard began to consistently receive hateful and violent threats on various social media platforms. They included:
“You fucking sick ugly groomer, I hope u die a painful lonely death you fucking pedo.”

“I’ll find and beat you up you filthy trans pedophile.”

“He would be a amazing fit for machine guns.”

“Why does he look so punchable? I would seriously enjoy punching him repeatedly even after my knuckles are raw, bloody, and swollen.”

[…]

The Anne Arundel County resident who sent that message was eventually charged with a hate crime. The individual pleaded guilty last July to a hate crime and was sentenced to three years of probation and 100 community service hours. She has since died.
This is quite common among trans teachers,
Other trans teachers have faced similar harassment. NPR found in 2018 that 56% of 79 trans teachers surveyed reported some form of workplace discrimination or harassment.
Welcome to the new America where it is open season on those who are different.

They want to force us back into the 1950s when we were illegal when we had to go to sleazy mob run gin joints. When we could be arrested, or fired, or discriminated against… the Republicans want to eradicate us.
