There's no doubt in my mind, based not only on what we've heard here today, but just looking around with our own eyes, that the industry that is formed around providing gender-affirming care and transitioning services for children has perpetuated one of the greatest frauds on the American public."

Both the Washington Post and New York Times broke their reports on Wednesday afternoon.First out of the gate was a report by the Washington Post’s Casey Parks and David Ovalle. Parks and Ovalle reported that “The Justice Department is demanding that hospitals turn over a wide range of sensitive information related to medical care for young transgender patients, including billing documents, communication with drug manufacturers and data such as patient dates of birth, Social Security numbers and addresses, according to a copy of a subpoena made public in a court filing this week. The June subpoena to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia requests emails, Zoom recordings, ‘every writing or record of whatever type’ doctors have made, voicemails and text messages on encrypted platforms dating to January 2020 — before hormone therapy, puberty blockers and gender transition surgery had been banned anywhere in the United States,” according to the Post reporters.Later in the afternoon, the New York Times’s Chris Cameron reported that “A Justice Department subpoena published in court documents this week provided details about the Trump administration’s expansive demands for confidential patient information from doctors and hospitals that provide gender-related treatments for children. The subpoena to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, sent in June, includes a seven-page list of requested documents, including ‘every writing or record of whatever type’ made by doctors related to gender-affirming care, which includes therapy, puberty blockers, hormones and sometimes surgery,” Cameron wrote. “The subpoena, which was reported by The Washington Post, also requested the birth dates, Social Security numbers and addresses of patients who received transgender care. In addition to emails, text messages and voice mail records, the subpoena also requested any messages sent or received through the encrypted WhatsApp messaging service, as well as ‘similar applications.’ The records request revealed the extent to which the administration has sought to pierce powerful federal confidentiality protections for patients and their medical providers as part of the government’s pressure campaign to end all transition care for children.”
The purpose of this witch-hunt is to... create fear in the trans community, create fear in the medical community and it worked! The hospitals in Connecticut that have been treating trans children shut their doors out threats to cut Medicaid and Medicare funding. There is a term for that, it is called. "extortion." There have been multiple legal challenges to this Order with some judicial actions that have paused aspects of implementation:• On February 4, 2025 a lawsuit was filed in federal court challenging the Order on the grounds that it usurps Congressional power, violates Sec. 1557 of the ACA, and is unconstitutional and on February 11 a temporary restraining order and memorandum opinion was issued requiring restoration of webpages, datasets, and any other resources needed to provide medical care, identified by the Plaintiffs.• On February 4, 2025, a separate federal lawsuit was filed challenging this Order and the Executive Order on “Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation” (see separate entry), asserting they are openly discriminatory, unlawful, and unconstitutional. On February 13, a federal judge issued a temporary restraining order preventing the federal government from withholding or conditioning funding on the basis of providing this care.• An additional suit was filed on February 19, 2025 by the National Urban League, National Fair Housing Alliance, and AIDS Foundation of Chicago challenging three Executive Orders: “Ending Radical and Wasteful DEI Programs and Preferencing”, “Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government” and the “Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity” as usurping the power of Congress, violating the Constitution and the Administrative Procedures Act, and, seeking declaratory and injunctive relief. In their complaint, plaintiffs highlight the potential harm this Order could bring to people with HIV and LGBTQ+ communities and the programs that serve them.

On June 18, 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in, United States v. Skrmetti, a case challenging Tennessee law (SB1) banning gender affirming care. The court found that the law did not constitute sex-based discrimination and did not violate the U.S Constitution’s 14th Amendment Equal Protection clause. As a result, 25 bans remain in place. However, bans in Montana and Arkansas are currently permanently enjoined by court order. The challenge in Montana relates to the state constitution and is therefore not directly impacted by the decision and the law remains blocked. The federal court in Arkansas found the law violated both the Equal Protection and Due Process clauses. The injunction remains in place given its basis on Due Process claims.

According to the poll, 22 percent of adult Americans think between 1-3 percent of the population is transgender, 18 percent thought between 3-5 percent is, and a further 21 percent think the transgender population makes up more than 5 percent of the total populous.Some 16 percent believed, correctly, that fewer than 1 percent identifies as transgender, while the remaining 23 percent said they did not know.
Some polls show a small number of people think that over a fifth of the population is trans!
So all of this BS is just to provide scapegoats for the Republicans distract the public from the real damage the Republicans are doing to our country! We are the new boogeyman!
