Saturday 9: Back to December

Saturday 9: Back to December (2010)
On Saturdays I take a break from the heavy stuff and have some fun…

Back home for a little while doctor’s appointments and to vote, this is the first time Connecticut has early voting so I voted on Wednesday.

Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.

1) Taylor Swift sings that when her mind wanders, it usually returns to a specific day in December. How about you? Do you often daydream? Or do you focus on what's happening in the moment?
Daydream all the time!

2) She's looking back on December. We're going with a different take: As we enter November, what are you looking forward to this month?
A big turkey!
I don’t think that I will be having dinner with the family. One nephew will by in Europe where their daughter is going to college, another to his in-laws, so I will see if any other cousins are having Thanksgiving Dinner or I’ll head up to the Cape.

3) The lyrics recount a casual conversation between two former sweethearts. They talk about their families, their careers and the weather. Are you good at making small talk?
No not really but Wednesday in the voting line we were making small talk. We were all around the same age and talked about the elementary school, and the different stores in town like the 5 & 10 cent store. And the big forest fire we had in town that burned for almost 2 weeks.

4) This song was rumored to be about her break up with Taylor Lautner, the actor best known for playing a werewolf in the popular Twilight series. In acknowledgement of the Halloween season: Did you ever trick or treat as a werewolf, vampire, witch, ghost or other scary creature?
Nope! A mad scientist once.

5) Taylor is currently involved with Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, and naturally this is his busy time of year. How's your football team (NFL or NCAA) doing this season?
Ha! I’m not a sports fan.

6) Taylor loves chicken tenders and says she'd eat them every day, if calories weren't a consideration. If you were to enjoy tenders right now, what dipping sauce would you prefer --sweet/sour, barbecue or honey mustard?
Yes. All three. Why limit it to just one?

7) Thinking of food ... Taylor Swift recently donated $5 million to Feeding America with the funds earmarked for those affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Does it make you feel good to do good? If yes, what is something you've done recently to help others? (It may give other Sat-9ers ideas for something they can do.)
Well, I helped someone with a problem filling out a state form.

8) Back in 2010, when this week's song was a hit, the iPod Nano was also popular. Did you have an iPod?

Nope. But I think that I had a Sanyo I think that was a brand back then.

9) Random question: Did you more recently run the dishwasher or the clothes washer?
Once again the answer is yes, I did a couple of loads from coming back from the Cape and I also ran the dishwasher at the same time.

Okay, here is a hint.
My old washing machine lasted 30 years! When I was buying a new one the lady at the store told me that she sold 5 washing machine on my street that week. There was a thunder storm and it zapped the power lines and all the washing machines all have computer chips not like the mechanical switches in my 30 year old machine.

Get a surge suppressor for the washer and dryer!

Very fair trade, each one as they may and are able. Sounds like my home. I clean he cooks. If I tell you I am making dinner come on over, run the other way.

  2. I love that your washing machine lasted 30 years. They don't make things like they used to, that's for sure.

  3. I like all the sauces too. They just don't make things like they used to. I left my old Whirlpools at my previous home and I liked the way they worked better than the new ones. Things are made to break and not last. I voted by mail and even checked the status. Have a great week!

  4. WOW that's a long life for a washing machine. My parents GE Fridge they bought in 1952 as newlyweds lasted 42 years! they wrote to GE and told them and sent a pic and GE sent them a discounted coupon for a new one.
I enjoy all the sauces mentioned in #6 but my fave is honey mustard.
