Republican-led House votes to hold AG Garland in contempt of Congress
Republicans allege that Garland and the U.S. Department of Justice have not been impartial in their investigations into President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

The U.S. House of Representatives voted 216-207 to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress. Eight members of the House did not vote.
One Republican voted with Democrats against the contempt motion.

Wednesday's vote was in response to the Justice Department refusing to turn over audiotapes of President Biden's interview with a special prosecutor over classified documents.

It all stemmed from the Justice Department's refusal to release audio recordings of an interview with President Joe Biden regarding an investigation into whether he — as vice president — improperly kept classified documents. The investigation ended earlier this year without charges against President Biden, with special counsel Robert Hur issuing a final report that described the 81-year-old president's memory as "poor" and having "significant limitations" that would have made it "difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him."

However, in another Scripps News Service article they write…

President Joe Biden has asserted executive privilege over audio of his interview with special counsel Robert Hur that's at the center a Republican effort to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress, the Justice Department told lawmakers in a letter publicly released on Thursday.

Wait a minute! Haven’t Trump and the Republicans been harping about Presidential immunity? The Hill reports,

Now that Donald Trump’s New York hush money trial is over, the big question is whether the former president will face trial in federal court before the November election. The case arising from his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election was set to go to trial back in March; Trump managed to avoid that trial date by claiming that presidents have absolute immunity from prosecution, a claim that is now before the Supreme Court.

What? The House Republicans on one hand are ignoring the president’s executive privilege while at the same time are saying Trump can avoid prosecution because he has executive privilege.

Do they think that the voters are so dumb that they will not see the hypocrisy in it?
