Former Olympic gold medalist Sandra Forgues has come out publicly as transgender. The French slalom canoeist, formerly known as Wilfrid Forgues, was part of the gold-medal C-2 canoe at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. She also won a bronze medal in Barcelona.

She told L’Equipe that, while she struggled for years with her gender identity, she made the decision to transition about 18 months ago.
I have to wonder how many other trans athletes are out there?

I know that there are a number of trans athletes in high school or college, but now older trans athletes are starting to come out, probably like me they now realize that the world doesn’t  end when you come out.

This morning I sat around the dealership for 3 hours when they checked out a problem with the nav system and did a 10,000 mile check-up.

What a fun way of spending the morning.
