So Which Is Right?

The media has been focusing on a trans women inmate who was placed in a women’s prison, some are saying that she made advances on women in the prison while others are saying that was the reason that she was moved.
Transgender Rapist Makes Sexual Pass At Inmates After Moving Into Female Prison

A transgender inmate, in prison for double rape and undergoing a gender reassignment treatment, was isolated from the rest of the female inmates at HM Prison Bronzefield, Surrey, after she made inappropriate advances on them, the Sun reported.

In March 2017, 50-year-old Jessica Winfield was moved to Europe's largest female prison on the outskirts of Ashford from the male-only HM Prison Whitemoor in Cambridgeshire, where she began the transition to become a woman.
So how did the Sun find out about this?
An anonymous source told the Sun how prison bosses were worried that she would try to make a pass on other inmates. Their fears came to pass when Winfield was segregated from the other prisoners last week for the same.
So some unidentified person said that she was making passes at the other inmates.

This is what another newspaper had to say,
Transgender rapist's segregation in women’s prison ‘not due to sexual advances on inmates’

He underwent gender reassignment surgery while in prison and in March this year was reportedly moved to HMP Bronzefield in Ashford - the biggest women’s prison in Europe.
[…]
However, a source close to the situation told The Independent understands that Winfield had been segregated, but not for inappropriate advances.
The authorities said,
A spokesperson for Sodexo, which runs HMP Bronzefield, said it does not comment on individual prisoners.
So this is a case of the battle of the anonymous sources.

And I have to wonder if cis-women in prison make advances on other women in prison? Do you think that this might be a case and that she is being singled out because she is trans?

Hi Diana

I live in the UK and these are my ideas, for what they are worth.

British journalism has a very poor reputation with the Sun near the bottom of thevheap being more of a sensation rag than a newspaper. The Independent is probably one of the better newspapers, however, it is not infallible.

As you say, it is a battle of anonymous sources so at this stage judgement should be suspended.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes
