Saturday 9: The Joker

Crazy Sam’s Saturday 9: The Joker (1973)
Because Stacy recommended it.

On Saturdays I take a break from the heavy stuff and have some fun…
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here;.

1) In this song, Steve Miller claims he's a picker, grinner, sinner, lover, smoker and joker. Do any of those six words describe you?
Nope, I am not any of those.

2) He maintains he's still a midnight toker. When's the last time you got high?
Um… last night at bed time. I find that it helps me to get to sleep.

3) The lyrics include a reference to peaches. Name your favorite fruit.
CHERRIES! I’m in heaven right now in peak cherry season.
One time I soaked them in overproof vodka, but officer I only had a couple of cherries.

4) This song had a big impact on the character of Joey on Friends, who had an imaginary friend named Maurice with the occupation of space cowboy. Did you ever have an imaginary friend?
Nope. If it did I can’t remember that far back.

5) Steve Miller is the pride of Milwaukee, WI. What else is Milwaukee famous for?
Beer. Pabst Blue Ribbon beer, the beer that made Milwaukee famous

6) Steve Miller considers himself a serious blues guitarist. When did you last feel like singing the blues?
When we sold the cottage.

7) In 1973, when this song was popular, you could buy a portable 8-track tape player for $44.50. On what device do you listen to music most often?
My tablet.

8) A Curious George book packaged with a Curious George plush toy was a big seller at Christmas 1973. Tell us about a toy -- either given or received -- that brightened a holiday or birthday for you.
Bah Humbug… I don’t give gifts for birthdays and Christmas, we do a Yankee Swap instead.

9) M*A*S*H was one of TV's top-rated shows in 1973. Who is your favorite M*A*S*H character?
I think everyone loves Radar, he is so cute and lovable. He is also a Connecticut resident.

  5. Is over proof the stuff you get when you make vodka yourself? heehee
I make cherry cordial by soaking cherries in vodka.

Yankee swaps are fun. If they don't make murderous intent arise. hehe

  6. RADAR and his NeHi Grape soda - always a good one. A friend gave me a six pack of NeHi soda for my 50th birthday in Radar's honor.

  7. I love cherries, too. Never thought about soaking them in vodka, although I've done it with other fruit. Gonna have to try that!

Hope you have a lovely Sunday.
