Saturday 9: Rubber Ducky

Crazy Sam’s Saturday 9: Rubber Ducky (1970)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song is sung by Muppet Ernie. Who's your favorite Muppet?
This week’s meme is going to be hard since I have never watched Sesame Street. When the show started I was in my late twenties and I don’t have any kids so I never watched the show.

2) Ernie became famous on PBS's Sesame Street. What public television shows do you watch?
Masterpiece Theater, I like the British detective stories.

3) When you were a little kid, what was your favorite TV show?
Roy Rogers… see I told you I’m old. (BTW, the show is again on Saturday mornings)

4) On Sesame Street, Ernie frequently teases his best friend Bert by stealing his nose. Do you enjoy practical jokes?
No. They are usually at someone else’s expense.

5) Sesame Street creators developed carefree Ernie and serious Bert to show children that different types of people can be good friends. Think about your closest friend. Tell us how you two differ.
I’m introverted and they are extroverted.

6) Bert and Ernie share a basement apartment on Sesame Street. Tell us about the basement of the building you're in right now.
My basement is a walk out basement with a den and exercise room (which is currently pressed in to service as a storage area for my parent’s stuff from their house.

7) Ernie and Bert were created by Jim Henson. In addition to being an accomplished puppeteer, Mr. Henson was also a talented cartoonist. Can you draw?
Nope.

8) Jim Henson made his first puppets himself using felt, foam rubber, string and rods -- all items that can be purchased at an arts and crafts store. When is the last time you shopped in an arts and crafts store?
Hmm… I’m trying to think if I ever when into an arts and craft store. Does JoAnn Fabric’s count? Last December I bought my sister-in-law a gift certificate.

9) When is the last time you took a bath (as opposed to a shower)?
Last winter, it is getting to be bath season again. There is nothing like soaking in a warm bubble bath with scented candles all around while watching the snow come down outside.

I’m sorry I didn’t reply to your comments last week. After I did last week’s meme I drove up to the cottage in New Hampshire (You can read my whole misadventure here.) and when I got there the phone and internet was out. By the time I got home Sunday I was just too tired.

  2. the warm bubble bath with scented candles sounds lovely. i think for right now though the bubble bath would be more to help cool down--it's been so hot lately.

  3. I only like practical jokes that are not at someone else's expense. Or aren't cruel.
