We Are All Protected

When the gender inclusive non-discrimination bill was being heard here in Connecticut we heard from the opposition about “specials rights” for trans-people and we always said that the bill protects everyone not just trans-people. It protects people who other people thought were trans.
An article on KIROTV website titled “Women charged in transgender hate crime” proves what we said all along,
Seattle police have arrested Artega Jackson and have a warrant to arrest Marjorie Marple for allegedly attacking a woman they thought was transgender.
All it took was the perpetrator “thought was transgender” and she was arrested for a hate crime. The article goes on to say,
"It's a bias crime, it's an aggravator, it makes a regular crime even more stricter. And it gets a little more attention from us," said Whitcomb [Sgt. Sean Whitcomb of the Seattle Police Department].
You don’t have to be trans, lesbian, gay or bi to be a victim of a hate crime they just have to think you are and the same goes for all the other protected classes.
