Clueless!

That is what the HRC is, they haven’t had a clue about the trans-girl that has been held in isolation in a women’s prison for over a month. The HRC just posted this
WASHINGTON – A case of horrible neglect, abuse, and sexual violence, followed by the incarceration of the transgender minor in an adult prison has renewed calls by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) for stronger laws to protect LGBT youth in foster care and more training for child welfare professionals.  The details surfaced in an op-ed in the New York Times by Harvey Fierstein this weekend. [My emphasis] Fierstein recounts the deeply disturbing set of circumstances of “Jane Doe,” whose father was in prison and mother addicted to drugs.  From the age of five, according to the op-ed, Jane Doe was shuffled between family members where she endured years of severe abuse and violence, followed by foster care with included ongoing mistreatment.  Jane Doe has become violent herself, according to another op-ed by Connecticut Department of Children and Families Commissioner Joette Katz and the State of Connecticut has said that it has no choice but to place her in solitary confinement in the mental ward of an adult prison.
Sorry HRC but she has been held there for over a month. Why did it take a gay man to bring it to your attention? The trans and queer communities has spread the call for justice on the blogosphere for over a month. And now you are using her to promote your initiative!

  1. Yes one has to wonder where they have been and where are they. HRC has proven over and over again that they are really not friends and comrades of the Trans community.

I can't believe that with all the blogging about this by some of our leading Trans folks that this is the first they have heard of it. What because a famous gay man opened his mouth it is now okay.

But here in this neck of the woods I have to wonder where is some of those who are called leader in the LGBT community. Why haven't they spoken up? PFLAG this is one of our children? Can we hear you, NO!

I hope everyone comes out this Saturday to march for Justice for Jane and call for an end to this immoral act by the state of Ct.
