Transgender Health and Law Conference

I was busy most of the nights after work this past week volunteering to help set-up for the Transgender Health and Law Conference. This will be the conclusion of nine months of work that began with the first steering committee meeting back in August and it has been a good learning experience for me. Here is the email that I sent out the other day to the area support groups.

Next Saturday April 14th there is a transgender health and law conference at Uconn Health Center in Farmington which is the first transgender conference of its kind here in Connecticut. I am impressed with all the different agencies that have come together to give this conference; the Connecticut Department of Public Health, Planned Parenthood, Connecticut Women Education and Legal Fund, Hartford Gay and Lesbian Health
Collective, the University of Connecticut and also the Connecticut
TransAdvocacy Coalition.

There are over fifteen workshops being offered, some of the presenters are; from True Colors, a Sex Therapist from the University of Hartford, the Senior Counsel for GLAAD and many more. Connecticut Outreach Society is also going to have an informational table there at the conference.

The registration fee is $25 and $15 for volunteers (I need someone to help me at the table registering the presenters), but the fee can be waived in cases of hardship. The conference is worth it; besides the workshops they are providing a continental breakfast, lunch and a reception after the conference.
